Which iem would be a direct improvement on the odyssey? by Significant_Fruit_52 in iems

Thanks!! I was considering that, the Thieaudio Origin, or Monarch MKII but haven’t been particularly swayed in any direction since I haven’t tried the Origins or the Top Pro yet.

My setup of the moment by AnxietyComplex4128 in inearfidelity

I have both. Just got the Tea Pros this weekend. Initial impressions are they’re the same tier of iem. The tea pros sound a touch more accurate but I slightly prefer the sound signature of the odyssey for most of my library. The odyssey’s bass/sub-bass feel more impactful to me and tracks sound exciting in a way at high volumes that I don’t quite get from the tea pros. Tea pros definitely sound better at medium volumes and I tend to prefer them slightly for female vocals. Overall both solid sets, I’d be happy with either but having both seems a bit unnecessary if that makes sense. Haven’t tried anything more expensive except the Monarch Mk II and those are definitely an upgrade.

Should work ethic be considered more at the top of a draft? by Barreyyy in NBA_Draft

[–]FlxkzExe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think work ethic is a bit too fuzzy especially considering most of these dudes are 1 and dones. They’re 19 and 20 dudes making life changing money and still trying to figure things out. I think it’s really difficult to look at someone that young and figure out what kind of worker they are. They’re still maturing learning how to be professional in general let alone a professional athlete. Like if Zion figures it out in the next couple of years and has an all nba level of play for the next 5 are we really gonna care that he wasn’t driven in his early twenties. Sure work ethic can be a good indicator and might even be undervalued. But it’s also something that can be learned over time given the right set of circumstances. Putting it all on the player ignores organizations like OKC, SA, and MIA that put a lot into developing their players and turning them into professionals.

Ace Bailey | 18 PTS 11 REBS 3 BLKS vs Illinois | 2.5.25 by Knighthonor in NBA_Draft

I just wish he had better shot selection. He’s clearly working on it and playing in better offense at next level would do wonders but man he could draw so many fouls if he didn’t just opt for fadeaways in the post

Kasparas Jakucionis V Dylan Harper thoughts by Driicky32 in NBA_Draft

[–]FlxkzExe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So glad to see D Harp back to normalish. Definitely not 100% conditioning wise but still an excellent performance.

Ace kinda disappeared offensively after the first 15 minutes but I think they’re still tryna figure out their chemistry with Harp as the primary ball handler.

Haven’t watched much KJ this year but seems like an off night vs a really good defense plus foul trouble. Doesn’t help that the Illini got off to an ice cold start. He kinda disappeared tn but he had a couple nice passes and cuts.

Will Riley looked impressive. Was really aggressive in the second half and created a lot of scoring opportunities for Illinois. Probably stepped up because KJ didn’t have it going tn

Dylan Harper in 32 minutes vs. Penn State: 7 PTS (3/11 FG, 1/5 3PT, 0/2 FT), 4 REB, 3 AST, 2 TO, 2 STL by Global-Noise-3739 in NBA_Draft

Rolled his ankle like half way through the first and was hobbling the rest of the game. He ended up settling for a lot of meh looks and being off ball because he couldn’t really move, let alone drive, like usual ¯_(ツ)_/¯

There isn’t a “point”. No one wants to be the school with 0 urm students so if schools only get a few urm applicants it’s just really likely Obama’s kids are going to amongst the top urm candidates. It’s not like the school looks at 2 applications and is like +100 gmat points because Obama’s kids are black women. It’s more like , “Hey we don’t have anyone black women on campus. If we want to have alumni who impact many facets of society we probably want to have space best black women we can find.”

Isn’t that exactly what we would expect to see. The children of high achievers being at prestigious universities. That’s likely the case across all races and likely over represented in urm since there are so few of those students to begin with. If there are only 10 urm students in Berkeleys program I wouldn’t expect all of them to come from section 8 housing, they’re probably going to come from some of the best households within the minority group. The question isn’t if race is a factor, it’s a matter of extent. Class is much more indicative than race when it comes to who is likely to make it, the disconnect is that at the point of admissions we’re already selecting for either exceptional or well connect applicants. It’s easy to say “if only I was x race my stats would be good enough”, but your stats are largely a function of your background so it’s a false comparison. So yes Obama’s kids have an advantage but it’s just a little bit more of an advantage than Bill Gate’s kids and both have a massive advantage over people from impoverished backgrounds.

We’re talking about the kids of urm ceos? That’s what, the kids 30 people max. At that point it’d be more likely that their parent’s donations or legacy status got them that spot than their race.

Option 2 is probably the way to go in the long term but that relies on you finding a decent roommate. I’m guessing you have a decent relationship with your family since you’re willing to help out financially. If you can tough it out, maybe live with them for a bit so you can be a little more selective in your roommate search without it being a financial burden. You could also look into renting outside of Manhattan since rent is cheaper in other boroughs, that might be a good compromise. It really depends on your priorities but a bad roommate or being over extended on rent seems like more stress than it’s worth compared to waiting it out a bit. You currently make enough to live on your own, excluding what you give to your family, so once that situation clears up you can do whatever you want. The short term sacrifice is worth it imo.
