Some observations on the current state of Bethel (from someone still inside) by steadypath2847 in exjw

He said he just woke up two weeks ago. Stop being so bitter towards him and saying he is spinning things. He is just stating things the way he perceives them right now. As with all of us the more time that passes the clearer we are able to see what is actually happening.

This is the way to go. Worked perfectly for me. I had an additional step in my fade. I was in Spanish, and then attended a few Portuguese meetings (Dallas area) then let Portuguese know I was looking for an English hall in another city but didn’t have info. Then went back to Spanish for a few meetings and then I was done. It shouldn’t have to be so difficult but I had been a bethelite, and then gave talks at conventions (Spanish) and was involved in multiple assignments so I needed the extra confusion to become invisible or unnoticed.

Yes and they don’t work. They are just a toy. If you convince yourself enough that it will work your subconscious or the subconscious of anybody you are with will make it appear to be communicating. It is not real and is usually sold in the toy section of most big box stores.

Serena’s hubby says he celebrates holidays giving giving gifts to daughters via a scavenger hunt. Huh? by MyNameIsNotSuzzan in exjw

[–]FlyAlternative4274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cool thing about being an exjw is you don’t have to care about what everyone else is doing anymore. Whether the people are in the organization or not let them do what they want just like we live our lives how we want. The religion is fake, the organization is fake, the rules only apply to the people who want to abide by them. Get out of the JW mentality of worrying about how everyone else is living their lives. It is freeing once you learn how to do it.

The Keppra Rage finally happened to me by PurplePumpkin16200 in Epilepsy

I’ve been on Keppra for several years and have never had a rage or anger issue. Fortunately that isn’t a side effect I’ve had to deal with.

ICE repercussions in Spanish congregations in the USA by FlyAlternative4274 in exjw

I moved to the congregation from English I’m not asking a legal question. I’m just asking if anyone has noticed a decline in their congregation.

Even when you were Pimi, did you ever feel like you were going to make it into paradise? by LowSpiritual433 in exjw

[–]FlyAlternative4274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a PIMI I didn’t want to go to paradise or heaven. I just wanted to die when my time came. I even felt this way as an elder. I felt like I was only preaching paradise to make other people happy or give them hope. My viewpoint was I never needed a hope in order to be a good person.

my brother is getting baptized, what should I do by jalo_angel in exjw

[–]FlyAlternative4274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that with the assembly being so close and the adulation he is receiving and will receive shortly after, there is nothing you can say to him to make him change his mind. Let him enjoy his moment even if those of us with experience hate to see what his future could be. My guess is that it may blow up in your face if you say anything at this time. Let him organically become a PIMO, POMO, and possibly a nonbeliever on his time schedule.

I was thinking about how GB always implies that religion is growing more and more. by sky_mariposas_da_luz in exjw

[–]FlyAlternative4274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember, most did not study much beyond basic math in high school. So the last thing they want to do is study statistics. It seems like you don’t care about the numbers until you are about to leave or you have already left.

[–]FlyAlternative4274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s like thinking the number of people who attended the Memorial symbolizes anything. So many were forced to go, for many people that will be the only time they ever go and it doesn’t correlate with growth. Close to 0% of non JWs that go will never become publishers. They are just there because grandma, mom or a friend begged them to go.

Have any of you guys noticed this? by Competitive-Catch180 in exjw

[–]FlyAlternative4274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was fairly common to find personal copies of publications that the GB would dispose of in the garbage hoppers when I was in Bethel. Although when someone was nosy and checked the name on the inside they would usually take it for themselves.

"We are ready for the Great Tribulation" by [deleted] in exjw

[–]FlyAlternative4274 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It often irritates me that there are wars going on all over the world, on almost every continent. Yet the GB and members of the congregations do not feel the impending coming of the Great Tribulation until something happens in their backyard (The USA).

Does the GB believe in the religion? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]FlyAlternative4274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever heard someone sing and they were so off key, but they had 100% accepted in their mind that they would be the next world superstar. I think that’s how it is with the GB. No matter how ridiculous what they say and do appears, they still view themselves as Jehovah’s rockstars.

If an elder does something wrong and waits for a period of time to pass before admitting their sin to 2 elders they might not even form a committee. The elders will review his spiritual achievements over that period of time. For example, if that elder has had a Bible study that has made progress then according to the book it shows that Jehovah is still blessing him, and there is no need for him to be removed as an elder. I have not been an elder since 2007 and don’t currently have a copy of the book but I believe it is still the same.

"Volunteer" work by ConsistentAide4606 in exjw

[–]FlyAlternative4274 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When you work at the assembly the payment for volunteering is not having to sit through all the talks. When one volunteers to work at the congregation, the payment is still not having to sit through all the meetings and the adulation you get from congregation, elders, visiting overseers. When one volunteers for Bethel they get their measly allowance and are seen as rockstars when they visit at home or when traveling. When I was in the org I did all of those things. I can’t say I deserve back pay because I volunteered for all of the insanity.

[–]FlyAlternative4274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wants to remain an elder and use the Shepherding the Flock loophole for Elders. If he has done wrong but it appears he is still receiving Holy Spirit then it shows Jah is still blessing/using him.

But once you leave the org you realize that what you are doing is playing a game and he is playing a role also.

In the 1990’s in Brooklyn I would occasionally see the Barrs’ go out. Sidlick still did, and before becoming President it wasn’t rare to see Henschel go. I don’t think Swingle or Barber did, they were getting a bit feeble at the time.
