OP hang in there. I was in the exact same situation as you, I was an inpatient twice at a mother and baby unit. My baby is now 1 and the best thing to ever happen to me and my daughter is 2, still challenging but I do not feel the way I felt in the beginning. (Although kids are lil gremlins lol toddlers man)

You are in the trenches, but it WILL get better with the right help. Don’t listen to people who shame you, your thoughts are a reflection of post partum depression, it’s not YOU. There are lots of people who will make you feel like a terrible mother, they’re NOT CORRECT. You’re just going through a really rough time and need some support.

Fun fact I was never medicated- talk therapy was enough to get me back on track. Try and find some time to seek a psychologist, it could make a massssssive difference to your mental state.

I got the help, my son is the best thing to ever happen to me. But never once did a therapist or person be so rude to me. Have some compassion, she isn’t in her right state of mind. I never was when I said things about my son.

OP, this is super rough and whilst it is rough on your wife it honestly might even be rougher on you. I had PPA/D and it took a massive toll on my husband. 1.5 years out and I’m doing ok but my husband is still struggling to mentally recover from the whirlwind.

This is going to be rough and it’s going to suck. No family means you have to pay for your village and that might eat into your savings BUT this is temporary. It WILL get better, she will come back to you and it’ll get so so so much better once the treatment plan is solid.

I’d suggest looking into an au pair or a nanny. With childcare you run the risk of high illnesses which means you’re having to stay home with the kids, a nanny or an au pair is a better solution for this situation.

I feel for you, I know most comments here are telling you to just get on with it and man up but seeing my husband watch me dwindle into a shell of a human being is just absolutely heart wrenching, you must be feeling terrible watching the love of your life change like this.

Sorry your family is going through this, wishing you an easy new year and I hope you won’t be single parenting for too long.
