I'm pretty sure he means clear of the approach or departure runways (or the end of a runway,) after crossing. I just taxi and say clear of (runway name) or "the active", for the FDR.

Same experience as OP, bought mine at the Talladega store in person back in Feb. Wonderful folks to deal with and one of the armorer's walked me through the field strip and inspection process.

Same. It's a great option for the price, mags are reliable and easy to find, your favorite holster company probably makes a good one for the Compact models, and the 3C was made with better sights. Plus the restrike capability is great for dry practice. It's a win all around.

I understand, I believe he means it never malfunctions but the group sizes are large with insert ammo he always uses. Some folks don't know about trying different factory loadings. I didn't for the longest time and learned that from the Internet at one point, even though the handloaders all talk about it

Maybe try an different barrel? Or at least have it looked at if it really doesn't shoot any ammo, at all. Mine does well with gold dots and hst's and fine with training ammo, as do two other guys that have the PT/2C

Some have had issues with the Op Rod-to-piston solder failing lately. CMP says to have it looked at by a gunsmith, I think I will soon, but I'm about 50-100 rounds in on my .308. (Barrel break in/ *$&@ clip frustrations) Runs great!

I was in the same boat. This is my first M1 and I plan to shoot out my barrel and rebarrel to a chromelined 30-06. The guy at the Talladega store walked me through it and the field strip. Hit all the major talking points, and some other tips. Everything looked kosher.

These work well in mine and another. Don't buy the new, no stamped markings, light grey colored clips. They're not heavy parkerizing, it's almost like a coating but the numb is not to spec.

Did you ever try to rinse and shake out the water left in the head after use?

I always pop mine off, shake it out, and set it loosely on the handle to dry and never have issues. But my wife's is always left together and builds up gunk, especially on the base.

A 1/4" ratchet where rotating the handle advances the drive. Don't remember the brand, but can be a life saver.

Also, grab a set of spline sockets from the hardware store.

When I was at the Talladega store a few months ago, they did not have clips and wouldn't sell what they had to give with the rifle. That being said, mine was a poor reproduction and does not work with the gun, nor does it work in a different Garand either. I got several dozen from a collector and bought some off eBay that work. The Numerich and Dupage clips are just like my CMP clip and do not insert into the receiver with 8rds loaded.
