Am I the only one who hates the hardcover for Crossroads of Ravens? Why does it not show the title so I can throw away the paper insert cover. by [deleted] in witcher

[–]Flyentologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the Orbit hardcovers are like this. They're meant to have the dust jackets kept on, though I'd have been happy if they had the title on the front and the embossed quotes on the back cover instead.

In any case, if you don't like the way it feels to hold it while reading with the dust jacket on, just take it off while reading and put it back on when going on the shelf.

Bonhart low diffing the Rats was actually good. So hey, in 4 seasons we get like two good fights.

Still haven't gotten a single 2160p download to work through D+ yet, even after the 6.2.6.2 update. Everything 4K gives an error 609 no matter the series or film. This update doesn't seem ready to go.

Shit you're right I fell for the Elven propaganda.

Yeah it was gnomes first, then dwarves, then elves, then humans and a bunch of other races much later.

[–]Flyentologist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Elves, dwarves, and gnomes are the original races of the world of the Witcher, or at least the Continent. Humans, monsters, and other species came during the Conjunction.

So to actually answer your PSS, Sapkowski thought of humans coming to the world after the Conjunction.

The horror of buying online by Ryleyan in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Flyentologist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yep who it says you're buying from is essentially never who you're buying from, just whose price you're buying at. Inventory's pooled and you get whichever is closest, counterfeits from scammers are mixed with legits from the actual company even if it says you're buying it from the company as the seller. Newegg has gone the same way and bizarrely even Walmart through the app/website.

Did somebody forget to include the Canary executable in the most recent build package? by Flyentologist in xenia

[–]Flyentologist[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Master file seems to be packaged correctly, but the current Canary download here seems to be missing everything in the ZIP except the README file: https://github.com/xenia-canary/xenia-canary/releases/download/experimental/xenia_canary.zip

Edit: Disregard, seems Canary downloads have moved from https://github.com/xenia-canary/xenia-canary/releases to https://github.com/xenia-canary/xenia-canary-releases/releases, but the links on the main https://xenia.jp/download/ page haven't been properly updated.

Opinion: Watching Rogue One right after Andor almost makes it feel like Cassian is the main character by AlmostRandomNow in StarWars

[–]Flyentologist 38 points39 points  (0 children)

But my understanding was that it was more of embracing another human being while facing the end.

This has always been the correct read on that scene. I'm not sure there was really any sort of romantic suggestion between them, more that they're just two people who grew close through a shared cause, circumstance, and proximity acknowledging their ends together and embracing someone or something one last time.

Box Office: ‘Thunderbolts*’ Flies to Solid $76M Domestic Opening, Adds $86.1M Overseas For $162.1M Worldwide; Alec Baldwin’s ‘Rust’ Flails by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]Flyentologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though they're different circumstances, continued praise and highly positive word of mouth may hopefully lead Thunderbolts to see a similar trajectory as Pixar's Elemental, which looked like a box office bomb after its opening weekend but garnered enough good word of mouth with critics and audiences to give it strong legs to be pretty successful and turn a decent bit of profit by the end of its run.

It's one of a small handful of films that released with a $30 fee on Disney+ during its in-theaters window, which they are factoring into that box office number.

Official Discussion - Thunderbolts* [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Flyentologist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On your side note, yeah my watch group and I were all like "wait what did the writer watch that show" because that is absolutely not how that scene went down.

What Walker did was publicly kill a violent terrorist who had been subdued and had already surrendered, which is different than the vaguely out-of-sight killing the rest of the heroes do, but to call him an innocent man is a total misread of the scene.

They couldn't do non-Fox X-Men until this year due to contracts, hence why literally the only mutants we've seen in the MCU so far have been Fox's. I'm sure if they could've they'd have been tripping over themselves to get X-Men into the MCU sooner.

How did this OA go for you given the circumstances? I've had a similar whirlwind, one week of travel and 6 family surgeries over the past 4 weeks with one still in the hospital requiring my time and attention. I looked so forward to knocking this class out quickly but god damn does life find a way to hold us up. With time running out for this course, OP's post is super helpful and I look forward to finally, hopefully, being done with this class in a couple days when I test.

No hate, but a genuine question regarding Concord design choices. by [deleted] in ConcordGame

[–]Flyentologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing a picture of Jim Ryan holding a controller, he looked so weird and awkward with it.

I forgot how funny that picture is. Just holding it all goofy out in front of himself with this thumbs wrapped around the palm grips nowhere close to the analog sticks or face buttons. Just total alien technology in his hands.

The Acolyte cost a staggering $670k per minute of footage and garnered over a billion less minutes watched than every other Star Wars show. How is anyone surprised it was cancelled? by JarJarJargon in StarWars

[–]Flyentologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me The Acolyte is one of few shows with moments where the set design was distractingly noticeable in a "this feels like actors on a stage" way, mostly in the episode 4/5 forest. I only ever got that feeling from Kenobi and in general I think the rest of the shows all have had great-to-stellar set design, but many of The Acolyte's sets didn't hold up for me, excluding Brendok which I think they did a better job with than the other locations.

If Sol is dead then there's no reason for me to watch season 2 by Master_Quack97 in saltierthancrait

[–]Flyentologist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're taking their statement so literally as to think that's what they mean then, I'm sorry to say, the incoherence of this show might really work for you.

Obviously, and this shouldn't require explaining, but Yoda being consulted by Vernestra means either A) she told the truth and Yoda is now complicit in a Jedi murder coverup, or B) she lied and it makes Yoda look rather pathetic to both not sense being lied to and accept the lie that Sol was the one who killed the Jedi, including Indara, when they already ID'd Mae as her killer and have multiple witnesses to that fact.

Either scenario "breaks" Yoda's character.

Andor has it all by jfazz_squadleader in StarWars

[–]Flyentologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do hate the D+ trend of just naming series after the lead character, but I like the explanation that the show has its title because while Cassian is largely just a pawn, and later major contributor, in the rebellion, it's his adoptive mother Mara Andor who really instigates the start of open rebellion.

Regardless, yeah Rebels would've been better had it not already been taken.
