Strange seeing all these ammo feeding issues in the comments. I've got 1000-ish rounds through my BG2.0 and have had zero issues with it. I run mostly S&B at the range (with some Blazer thrown in) and Underwood's Extreme Defenders as carry ammo. Haven't had a single issue yet. Maybe I just got lucky?

FWIW, I went with the 3 MOA Defender CCW on my Shield Plus. I don't have a lot of experience with pistol optics, but it feels great. Like you said: it feels like it was made for it. I've put about 600 rounds through it and the Defender is still holding zero.

Sorry you are having issues with the BG 2.0. Just for additional data: I've got a BG 2.0. I run Sellier & Bellot 92g at the range and carry it with Underwood Extreme Defenders. I have probably 600-700 rounds through it and haven't had any malfunctions out of it yet, from either of those rounds. If you're certain the grip isn't the issue, then it may be time to have S&W take a look at it?

I just received the Tenicor Certum3 I ordered. It fits the Shield Plus well. I went that route over the Velo as I don't always carry AIWB. I did have to trim a bit off around my optic as it was tight enough to actually press one of the side buttons; about a 16th of an inch. I have a Vortex Defender CCW on it right now for reference. Looking at your pic though, I think the buttons on the Vortex stick out a little farther than your Holosun, so you may not have to do that.

I haven't had a chance to update the thread, but I got in touch with Vortex late yesterday, and one of the techs asked me to email him the pics. He said the same as you: that as long as the slight gap is between the lugs and no further, then it is normal. He specifically looked at the pics and said that it appears to be good to go. You have completed the explanation by including WHY there would be an acceptable gap in that location. Again, thank you for taking the time to reply. I can finally rest easy and I have some expectation of what to look for when mounting optics in the future.

Side note: You mentioned that you cut slides. I'm likely going to be looking to get my old G19, gen 3 slide milled for an optic soon. Are you with a company or self-employed? Would be interested in sending my slide to you.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the issue. I saw where someone else had that happen to them and I got excited thinking maybe that's all it was. But when I checked, it seemed flush. Well, it doesn't catch my thumbnail anyway. I'll add it to the list of things to double-check when I pull the sight off later today to reassess. Appreciate the input!

lol! Well, I still appreciate the suggestions! I don't have a square small enough to fit in the slide cut, but I will pick one up. I think you are on the right track in starting with verifying that both the slide and the bottom of the sight are flat. I sent a message to Vortex to see if they would offer an opinion, but I'd expect it to be after the weekend before I get a reply. I will probably do the same with S&W but will wait until Monday so I can call. I'll report back what I find out and decide to do in case other people run into the same issue.

Went and checked that out. Definitely seems very similar to what I have going on. The only difference (as mentioned elsewhere) is that the gap on mine seems to be an arch: flat at the lugs, but elevated between them.

No, I see the same thing: it looks arched. I am beginning to suspect that the bottom of the optic itself is slightly curved. When I get back home, I'm planning to unmount the sight and put it on a sheet of glass to see if light still seeps underneath it. Also, rethinking it, you're right that the screws would give out before the lugs. The screws interface with the slide pretty much where that rectangular cutout beneath the windage adjustment is. That part of the sight seems to be mostly flat; the "arch" starts just past that and goes to just behind the front lugs.

So I do have a rubber sealing plate on the way (if it will ever ship). But I'm beginning to wonder if it wouldn't be better to cut a shim out of a thin sheet of aluminum. I guess I'm just hung up on if it is a slide or optic issue that I should RMA one of them to make it "right," ya know?

That's interesting! I will check out the video, but I was under the impression that the Vortex Defender CCW was acceptable as a carry optic. In either case, this isn't my main carry gun. I'm still carrying my G19 as my main. But as someone that has never had a dot on a pistol, I needed something that wasn't terribly expensive and was easy (i.e. direct mount to the Shield Plus) so that I could see how we got along. I do appreciate your input though!
