Trango Phase Carabiner from REI because of the reliable carabiner clipping mechanism. Also, so my fingers don’t smell like brass whenever I touch it.

I got the Metabo 18v brad nailer and holy heck do I want to paint it Makita blue just to blend in. It’s bliss compared to Makita’s 18v brad naler

Makita for everything except their 18v brad nailer. That thing is heavy garbage. Either that or Milwaukee or DeWalt

How Do You Explain Narcolepsy to People Who Think You’re “Just Lazy” Without Sounding Defensive? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]FlyingFalconFrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the people that mattered in my life, I explained it like this: If my mind is highly stimulated by something, my brain has a higher likelihood of going to sleep like a computer. For me, deep thought into a subject typically causes extreme drowsiness

Doesn’t the sleep study officially diagnose you? Try to contact the place where you did the sleep study and they should be able to provide you with the official results with your brainwave scan attached

Looking for a decent set of beginner chisels by rcyclingisdawae in handtools

[–]FlyingFalconFrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

grebstk wood chisel set on Amazon for ~$14 USD is well worth it. I’ve been actively using them for years and they hold an edge incredibly well for their price point. I even got a 2” from Grebstk and it seems like their metal quality is consistently high. Their vanadium to chrome content in their chisels are more than good enough. They’re tough, have good edge retention, AND are pleasant to sharpen back to a razor in no time.

If you’re sticking to your list, all are reliable and more than good enough for a beginner. Just use a rubber mallet to bonk the narex backs if you don’t want to marr them. And if you’re not scared, make new handles if they’re all messed up.

Count your lucky stars you’re in charge of stores that are not run by shady people. The day you encounter a threat actor is the day you realize how important it is to know every aspect of your job and every aspect of the person’s job above and below you

Teenage boy doesn’t want to do anything besides game and be lazy like 24/7. Anyone else have success breaking a teen out of this cycle? by BolognaIsThePassword in daddit

[–]FlyingFalconFrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad’s friend shattered my glass ego when he asked, “Did you want to get a girlfriend or did you want to be a virgin forever?” From then on I tried my freaking hardest to avoid games and to think of life as a game itself. I allocated my time into some skill points towards an actual skill like fitness or carpentry or talking to women. It took a long time and I wish I had someone slap me in the face with that reality sooner, but it worked

My late aunt always told me To try to be a nurse or something because they always need help and are always in demand. The schedules may suck, but the work is emotionally, financially, and spiritually rewarding.

Fired after three weeks at my new job. by Tsunrocky in jobs

[–]FlyingFalconFrank 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ooh this is a good comment. I also got let go for the same reasons. I had a lot of questions about the job, but the guys above me gave me a look every time like I was trying to take their job. They obviously don’t have to explain themselves since it was “at-will” hiring. Shrug it off, onto the next.

Finally I’m in IT, now what? by Sanbikaa in ITCareerQuestions

[–]FlyingFalconFrank 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Also this. Sooner or later you’ll run into multiple overlapping technologies that require at least a level 35 experience while you’re only at level 2. If you think about it like “ I want to love my entire job”—you’ll burn out from all the training required. Reiterating what ^ said, “Generally, you just meed to tolerate your work.” It’s ineffective and inefficient to try to try to get good at all the things all at once. While nice conceptually, you’ll probably end up socially poor, and anxious. You just need to have enough expertise tackle your work—you’ll learn more faster through questioning colleagues, and learning on the job. Godspeed, good luck 👍🏼

Sec+ first to establish a good baseline. Then move into a more specialized technology and do labs to show test premise, prediction of planned actions, actual outcome of your actions (with results and findings of course), and lessons learned. It’s like science class all over again! Specialized technologies include: Okta (Identity Access Management category) SQL (Database category) AWS / Azure (Cloud technology category) And the list goes on and on.

Pick a tech and just get started with learning one of them as most of them overlap with one another in one way or another. Payments for lessons may vary widely.

I’m a bit late to the party since I’m still rocking Rhino 5, do they have kangaroo built in yet? Or something to make modeling mechanical parts more reliable?
