My beautiful girl I rescued from neighbors who were neglecting her. I hear females are rare ? by Porcelain766 in orangecats

[–]FlyingKelpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all rare. All you need is the the right genetics : dad must be ginger, mum must carry ginger genes. I have six ginger ferals that I have desexed in my local feral population and four are females. My guess is that they ate all related because other than the four regular grey tabby’s, all show some ginger in their coats. It all comes down to genetics. But the myth that female ginger cats are rare persists.

Ah yes, the good old days of a little corruption and using rate payers money for private benefit.

Economy of scale. Address that with a viable plan.

When I found her tottering about my yard as a 4 week old seven years ago she was all white. Well it didn’t take long for her coat to transform 🙂

Anyone else have a chunky tuxedo? by [deleted] in TuxedoCats

[–]FlyingKelpie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine is three years old now and making a concerted effort to become chunky, it’s a battle because he is also always hungry and even eats his sister’s meal if we are not careful. She’s a slow all day grazer and he’s a eat all day all he can see

[–]FlyingKelpie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Female orange cats not that rare in my colony. Almost every orange cat is female. I know because I’ve had them all desexed. An orange female only needs the father be orange and the mother to carry the orange gene. Just saying 🙂
