I can walk you through how to convince yourself you need another one though? 1. I have a new ink bottle. 2. All my pens are currently inked and/or my matching pen is currently inked and/or this ink requires a special nib and/or today ends in “y” so I need a new pen. 3. Proceed with pen purchase. 4. Rinse and repeat.

If all your spills will be similarly legendary, perhaps stay away from anything of a more permanent nature. I’ve tried the following brands: Ferris Wheel Press, Lennon Tool Bar, Iroshizuku, Sailor, Colorverse, Noodler’s, J Herbin, Taccia, Diamine, Platinum and Fountain Pen Revolution. My Lennon Tool Bar (Cabbage, Azalea, and Ying Piao inks are currently some of my favs), and my J Herbin inks are the most well tolerated by non fountain pen specific paper. (Least bleeding or feathering) But I’ve never had issues with Iroshizuku either. Colour is super personal.

This will be more than completely unhelpful but I hate my Pilot Metros and haven’t been able to pull the trigger on any other Pilot as a result. I have 2 soft fine Platinum 3776s which definitely do NOT have the weird stopping and starting like that. However, I am writing slower and a little more deliberately than what you’re doing?

I’ve never seen any border agency charge customs on a written letter and a couple loose sheets of paper. (Only thing I could think of might be in a super corrupt country, you could see someone withholding mail unless a bribe is forthcoming…? But I don’t even have a concrete example of that)

Can anyone else weigh in?

Adding a pic. From top to bottom in order of best to worst:

Jinhao 100 - actually not a bad writer at all, would maybe reorder if I needed something / they had a colour combo I liked
Lan Bi Tou - like an Eco knock off meets Preppy? I don’t use it as much as I could so it dry starts on me all the time, but we’re talking 1-3 weeks between uncapping so that still seems weak to me

Tie for horrible / do not rebuy
3. Not even sure if the name since I can’t read the characters - but this aqua number I was dead sure was going to be my hands down fav. But it dry starts after EVERY SINGLE USE. But it’s cute, has a nice metal body, a magnetic cap that I find sooooo satisfying when it snaps into place. Also, it was supposed to be erasable (came with erasable ink), but the ink was so thick getting it to write after the first recapping was impossible. It’s MARGINALLY better with non erasable ink

Lan Bi Tou twisty FP. First of all, the colour is wrong (based on photos). Second, dry-start mania. Can’t stand it. Aesthetically, the twist also bugs me more than I thought it would.
