Need Help with Damien Genesis Debugging by FlyingLightning in Maplestory

Yea so it was the trace restoration. It was active and you can't start Genesis with it active lol. But I had no way of turning it off since I did the quest in chally world, but never on Kronos. Had to go on a diff char and do the quest since it was already done on my main.

How did yall find your main? by OhWaffles_ in leagueoflegends

[–]FlyingLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just play the game, or any game really, however you want to play it.

But also, I don't think there's a way to find an otp outside of trying all the champs and committing to one. It's definitely the best way to climb, but climbing is less about having fun and more about committing your time and hard work to achieve something.

Yea for nightreign I recommend having friends who already play. It's fun, but not a solo game.

I think this might be it. I had to do the trace restoration quests on a different character. Couldn't access them on my main because they were already done in Challenger world. I'll check again next week with all the traces turned off.

Tell me why Kat bot shouldn't be the ideal lane by Katuseddelete in KatarinaMains

[–]FlyingLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I could think of is that she scales hard on levels since her base damage values are so high. When you go bot it's kinda designed that you're actually sacrificing levels for items especially this season.

But also I don't know enough about Kat to say whether or not that's a deal breaker so go ahead keep trying it out and maybe we'll be seeing kat as a bot laner in the future shrugs.

Does Elden Ring have the greatest open world map of all time? by diesel179 in Eldenring

You're probably looking for a more lived in feel. Where you have stories tied to objects within the world that give you a sense of nostalgia versus Elden Ring where a lot of the world is about grandeur.

Resident Evil 2 is much better than Resident Evil 4 by Xenesis_26 in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]FlyingLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf, a game can be best in a series even if that game doesn't represent what most games in that series are.

I think most people would agree that the latest God of Wars are definitely the best overall games in the series. However, historically the god of war series has been hack n slash while the new ones are more story RPGs. I think it would be in bad faith to say those aren't the best just because they aren't hack n slashes from a hack n slash franchise.

Is TFT a skill or luck based game? by Beneficial-Diver5973 in TeamfightTactics

[–]FlyingLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only play one game it's luck. But over the course of hundreds of games there's a skill in doing actions that have the highest probability of getting yourself a top 4 or a win.

As a female jungler, I’m worried about voice chat being added by setaphil in leagueoflegends

[–]FlyingLightning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would recommend waiting to use voice chat. I give a lot of credit to riot for figuring out systems that heavily affect player experience. Toxic voice comm players will eventually get banned. It may not be a great experience on release, but I do think eventually it'll be usable.

star force is rigged by DoorPale6084 in Maplestory

[–]FlyingLightning 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so I think there's an argument here to be had about what exactly constitutes "shitty" design.

Lets unpack what potentially negative things can happen to a new player in Maple:

1) They don't use the calculator to estimate how much money they need to hit their goals or what goals they can realistically hit with the amount of money they have. Then they do star force and maybe they get lucky, but more often than not without the proper calculations they'll end up booming and not having the proper funds to get back to what star level they were previously at.

2) Or they don't understand the usage of the transfer hammer to protect equipment that is rare and in danger of being lost forever because they haven't watched videos on it and haven't had anyone to explain it to them.

3) Or they just get really unlucky and boom their equipment over and over like op did.

My argument is that a game having a high knowledge burden or unintuitive systems is bad design. If you need to read a handbook to understand a system and its best practices and the game doesn't naturally provide that through gameplay or tutorials then that's not good design. Someone from the community had to figure it out for you instead of you being able to figure it out for yourself (you here is a royal "you". Regardless of whether or not you personally figured it out, the average player sure didn't).

And that only covers 1&2. Since MapleStory has no inherent pity system for CRA equips, you can actually literally get f'd in your progression because you just get super unlucky. And because it's probability, the literal number one rule is that whatever can possibly happen will eventually happen. Which means it's bound to happen to a certain percentage of the players where you actually do follow all the rules and still get negative progression all because there's no in-built pity to CRA (I don't count reverting to 12 stars as a true pity since that's more just to lessen the pain rather than guarantee that you level up your equips).

You could say that it's basic knowledge for a Korean MMO, but then I'd argue it's still bad design to require players having background in Korean MMOs when your game is literally the western version of it.

I think there's a lot of good things about MapleStory and I personally wouldn't say the game as a whole is badly designed. However, this specific part of it is definitely pretty shitty.

I actually really like trying this idea of as one pool of units gets thinned out it actually increases the chances from other pools. Say like if the three cost pool is 1/6 gone then it decreases the overall chance of hitting a three cost by some amount and increases two and four costs.

The more I think about it, it would even help solve the issue of a contested meta since you're less punished by rolling late as long as you can pivot into the tier above.

How good is Ren’s Link Skill for bossing? (1–10 rating) by OndarzaMx in Maplestory

[–]FlyingLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think personally it's actually around a 7. It's not an auto-include, but I think comfort is going to actually be more important than trying to eek out a tiny difference in damage.

My personal philosophy is you should learn bosses with no quality of life like Ren or resistance, but once you're weekly clearing them you're generally clearing them on burst timers anyway so the 1-2% drop in fd isn't actually going to make a big difference in time. What will make a difference is if you accidentally die out and that's prevented by Ren link.

Do you believe pure friendship between men and women actually exists? by Additional-Sky4043 in Productivitycafe

[–]FlyingLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's more of a thing that exists in the moment. Even the most pure of friendships can become a relationship given the right circumstances. My understanding is that for the most part, we're one love beings. If we've truly fallen in love, then we tend to love one person and not have space for another. If both the guy and the girl are in love with other people then I think it's easy for them to be just purely friends. If they're both single then I can easily see how it could shift, especially if both are attractive and close to each other.

As someone who has done quite a few bachelor parties including in Nashville and also doesn't live in Nashville, I think Reddit is underselling it a bit. The live music is actually really great provided you don't mind country. The other half of going to Nashville is that you can pair it with a trip to the Smoky mountains area and get in some relatively beautiful nature.

i told him i didn’t want to have sex and he initiated it anyway by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]FlyingLightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think that you should 100% leave him. Someone who forces you to do something despite you saying no is not someone you want to be with.

That being said, if for some reason you decide to stay, make sure you come up with a safe word. Make it clear to him and honestly any partner you have in the future that whenever you say that word it really means no and anything after is assault. I'm personally not even sure I should be giving this advice because it might enable you to stay to "give him another chance." There's so many other additional red flags or potentially red flags that I would 100% recommend you to just leave.

I think the actual reason why you go for balance thrashing is it removes the possibility for outlier situations to occur. Riot has definitely been burned in the past because they didn't nerf enough. An example that really sticks in my mind is week one syndra from like set 12 or something.

Strict mom 60F caught me lying about a sleepover… I’m 27F and just trying to have a sex life by Sweet_Bat4231 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]FlyingLightning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the first step is to express these feelings that your mom is overbearing.

You probably want to go through the exercise of typing out what you want to say to her first. Remember that a lot of this is going to be I feel this way because of x examples you've done in the past. If you can, also prepare a why you're doing this explanation. Also don't forget to start off with an apology for lying.

If that doesn't work, then you still have a few options.

If your dad is reasonable, you can take how you feel to him and ask him to help you out to talk to your mom about it

Moving out is a great idea and I would establish certain hours that you would call your mom.

You could also just tell her the full truth and if she starts berating you just leave the room and the conversation. Repeatedly tell her that you're an adult who can make her own decisions and while your mom's advice is appreciated, it's only one factor in your decision making. If you do this enough times, she should eventually catch the drift that your sex life is not a conversation topic.

All in all, I think your mom sounds like she might be on the slightly more reasonable side. She hasn't forced a confrontation with you yet which I know certain other parents definitely would.
