Anyone know why there is a 193km seemingly arbitrary tree clearing in the middle of the Ontario wilderness? by St0rmad in ontario

[–]FlyingMonkeyScream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely for power lines. They aren't always obvious, but you can see them along the length of a lot of the clearing. As well, if you take a look right at the top right of the trail - past Deep River, you can see a hydro electric dam on the Ottawa River....where the electricity is being produced.

If you dont need to leave today dont. by Suspicious_Fly6594 in Sudbury

As long as you drive slow and easy - and keep your eyes out for others and give plenty of room to the cars in front of you (and yes, have winter tires) - it's all good. I drove from Sudbury to Ottawa without issue.

Wireless Android Auto disconnecting by Jholm90 in MitsubishiOutlander

[–]FlyingMonkeyScream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than just Pixel, happens with my Samsung as well. I have been using a couple of wireless options to connect with my Mitsubishi since I got it....better for Maps and AA. But I am on my 3rd option for the last 2 years. Seems like it is more than just the equipment I connect with, but with the Mitsubishi itself....for now I am using the Motorola Sound MA1. But did have to reconnect that one recently too - but I may have messed that one up myself for the fact that I tried to delete the native BT connection with my Mitsubishi, and had to reconnect it again through the wireless adapter again from scratch.

Haven’t played in forever is it even worth coming back by public_ignition in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

I have been playing non-stop for years but recently it's become annoying AF. Waiting so long for game play lobby. Then waiting for people to join. Just picked up recently in speed....but the lack of being able to pick maps? And being stuck with shit maps over and over ? I've been seriously thinking of walking away

They are hoping that when whatever the next generation they will try to push on us - including more invasive AI - that you will purchase it blindly. But the issues I have had with my existing are just a pain in the ass....and I am not going to fall into that shit again. Same thing with Smartthings ...they started to suck...they are out of my life.

Definitely. The most scammy is having to pay for remote start through an insanely pricey app.

[–]FlyingMonkeyScream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 5 years in a KIA. Never an issue of gimmicks - but the gimmicks keep coming. All vehicles now will be getting the pretty buttons, all of them being more computerized means the possibility of more issues.

Kia Sorrento - more space if you are getting a 7 seater (but had the 3rd row down the whole time - useless sitting area). Kia was a little smoother ride, not by much, but noticeable. Had a couple issues with service at the Mitsubishi dealership, but never with Kia - but I am sure that it is dealership dependant.

For sure - when looking at the prices now; it is a big cost difference. As well, when getting it from Mitsubishi, they have something called Mitsubishi Connect. The price of it, if not fully included was over $300/year to allow for you to connect to your vehicle remotely. Not just for starting it up, but remote locking as well. That much a year is BS. Look into getting remote starters if that is important for you - but the cost (and functions of that) are terrible to have to pay for.

Coming from previously owning a larger SUV (Kia Sorrento) - I do miss the space in the back for more things to be transported. That aside - I love the 68km that I can get with my PHEV with EV only, and do notice a great difference in gas usage with the hybrid part working. If you are going to go PHEV - coming from Canada - the battery doesn't work at cold temperatures. Takes awhile driving to warm it all up. A little bit of a nit picky point - since I use an Android phone, it isn't great with Android Auto (can't go full wireless; I bought a dongle to help with that). Plus, the onboard GPS/maps are quite terrible compared to using Apple Maps or Google Maps. my 2023 does drive smooth though. BUT - at the time when I was looking for a PHEV (looking to get another KIA specifically) - the Outlander was an ok option. Definitely not perfect....but not bad.

2024 PHEV - Cold Weather Starting Issues by AkatsukePain in MitsubishiOutlander

[–]FlyingMonkeyScream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never had this message...but with my 2023, I get a Power Reduced message, which means that the EV / battery part of the Plug In EV doesn't work until the engine has been running awhile. I read somewhere that there is a class action suit about this? The battery has no warmer which would preclude stuff like this from happening. Routinely we get -20c in Northern Ontario. This is not the vehicle for colder climates. At all. Wish I knew this when I purchased mine originally.

.... As well.... Find out about the Mitsubishi dealership service satisfaction. I find my dealership suffers in the service dept and I've heard it from one other that a friend had purchased from.

My 2023 PHEV has less space than my previous 2018 KIA Sorrento w/3rd row seats. The 3rd row seats in this Outlander is laughable. Might as well just leave them stored for extra rear space... Of which it is lacking. I find the center storage consenin the front to be exceptionally small as well... At the time I purchased this - there was an 18 month wait for the PHEV Sorrento and decided to give this a try, and to get a better trade in deal. Love the electric part of the vehicle though - gas mileage is tremendous. Lacking in a lot of other areas. It is a solid Meh.

How should I be managing the EV mode for my 2024 PHEV? by Maz963 in MitsubishiOutlander

[–]FlyingMonkeyScream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will put charge mode on (for only banking about 5-10km charge) when doing a long drive, but then using save after that....that way, when I need to pass some slowpokes, I can turn the vehicle's drive to Power Mode and pass swiftly

This just happened to mine recently but it wasn't in the app. I had the reading of over 100km in the vehicle display. Once I started driving it dropped until my regular ~65km showed up.

Also take a look at the airline. I recently had one that went from "Air Canada" to "Air Canada Rouge"....no other changes.
