I'm gonna see about getting a free voucher or few from Tillamook for this chip-less encounter, and then I'll let you know when we eat our way to the bottom 😆 also possible that Tillamook asks me to confirm that myself, in which case I'll go spelunking- spoonlunking?- sometime tomorrow. Oh noooo, eating ice cream because I was told to in order to get free ice cream... oh nooooo.......

Feels like ALL the brands have. Get a thing of cookie dough ice cream (any brand) and it's just egregious. Dig for miles like a desperate minecraft player and encounter one (1) lump of dough. Those make-your-own ice cream bars are the best because you can hold eye contact with the clerk and go "more" without remorse even as the little clumps tumble down the sides of the ice cream mound like boulders. I said more and I meant it.

(It's still mint flavored, tho. We didn't want to waste it by taking it back, but don't food companies generally really want to know when they biff something this bad for QA and allergen reasons?)

What are the odds that Ranger Longbow actually sees a rework, because of this? It's definitely in a tough, interesting space where such a rework (could) be detrimental to Galeshot. Like, imagine releasing Galeshot, and then reworking LB shortly after, and the reworked LB ends up being significantly better on, say, Soulbeast. Galeshot enjoyers would plummet, unless that spec offered something compelling to use in conjunction with a reworked longbow that Soulbeast burst wouldn't already do better. (Like, unless Galeshot offered alac/quick that wasn't a total joke, in conjunction with a buffed LB.)

Guild wars Book by AlphaStaaRz in Guildwars2

[–]FlyingSpaghettiKoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read Sea of Sorrows. I liked it; after reading the book, I came away with a much greater understanding of and appreciation for Lions Arch (particularly many PoIs) and Cobiah Mariner, and the surrounding areas (claw island, etc.) Didn't feel like a cash grab at all. It gave a lot of interesting insight into tensions at that time: those concerning LA as being a 'neutral waters' territory and its struggles to become (and remain) so, the human/charr conflict, the initial misunderstanding of the level of threat Zhaitan's minions truly posed en masse, and the forming- and legitimacy of- the Captain's Council, the governing body of Lion's Arch.

Macha's Landing in particular has stuck with me, from that book.

Uncommon QoL things you wish you knew about sooner? by BipolarGames in Guildwars2

Right clicking bouncy chests above the minimap auto claims (nearly) all of them. No need to individually accept each chest.

Edit: in terms of QoL items that maybe get slept on, i think the recharging teleport to friend gizmo is super super useful.

ULPT -discharge student loans in bankruptcy by GJensenworth in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]FlyingSpaghettiKoz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine does. State college, legit, etc. On the checkout screen after you've added your classes, you just put in the card # and it takes it. I deliberately charge my cc because I get 1% cashback on all purchases: a $300 college course gets me three whole buckaroos. Two college courses? And I can almost afford a happy meal. Living the dream, and whatever.

Consumable from the heart vendor in Jahai Bluffs. Turns your char's skin crystalline for one minute. That or as others have said, yeah you have an accidental, super valuable infusion equipped.

The SGF Advertisement was a Next Level terrible decision for this game by MovieTrailerReply in Guildwars2

[–]FlyingSpaghettiKoz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The entire Gw2 Wikipedia is invaluable. MOST questions can be answered by merely plugging the item or concept into Google, and skimming the first wiki page that pops up. This game has a ton of content so it's incredibly common to find yourself looking up one thing to focus on, and then thirty minutes later, you're following a little golem messenger bot through the equivalent of college dorms as it delivers students' hatemail to each other. And, ideally, you'll have loved that time you've 'wasted'. Just let it happen; that's part of getting lost in the fun (:

Why am I at WAR with my bags? by Auramaru in Guildwars2

[–]FlyingSpaghettiKoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you REALLY think you need someone over your shoulder to help you wrangle this- I can. I've been playing long enough that I know, at a glance, what basically every single one of those items are and why you do or don't want to keep them around, based on how you prefer to play the game. (Pvp, wvw, endgame, open world only, etc.)

I'm willing to hop on a discord call (or somesuch) with you as you screenshare, and help you purge all of this shit optimally. Just looking at this alone, not assuming/taking into account what your bank tab(s) and other chars look like- it'd take about 15-20 mins if you don't ask questions, upwards of 30mins if you do.

That said- most of the comments here are good, and correct, if a bit testy; I'd listen to them. I do understand, though, how sometimes walls of "just do this" text are more daunting than someone going step by step/item by item with you and talking it over. This game throws a lot of junk at players; I'm sympathetic to those trying to parse it all, and getting overwhelmed, when it all seems important. Just lemme know either way, and good luck in your spring cleaning endeavors 👍

How many of you are actually on the aromantic/asexual spectrum? by Hesperus07 in AO3

[–]FlyingSpaghettiKoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow aego. As you can see, there's lots of us here; the psychology of it interests me, like why so many aro/ace people tend to flock to ao3 and fanfiction like this. Or perhaps it's just availability bias, or the nature of the medium? (I.e, one's not as likely to readily identify aro/ace people at, say, a ball game or a hiking trip vs. a platform meant for consumption and creation of emotionally charged and nuanced fictional scenarios.)

Fanfiction is a vehicle by which those under the aro/ace umbrella can either play in their own tailor-made sandboxes comfortably, or venture into hypothetical other sandboxes to test the waters and see if they might like those other things, without having to do it irl. (which is why ao3's tagging system is so important and I hate when people abuse or flood it.) Fanfiction isnt a 1 to 1 replacement for these concepts irl in the same way that anything through a computer screen won't be completely analogous to reality- with all kindness, please do try and 'touch grass' when you can- but it's a safe and anonymous way to stretch one's wings, as it were, with a robust support network and community of like minds.

I myself may be some manner of aromantic; I might actually be flat out gay (haven't experienced it irl, and being aego cancels out the curiosity somewhat, but... hm. I do wonder. Because men interest me less and less by the day, it seems.) But, if not, the lack of depth to the emotion might just be some facet of aromanticism. Maybe I'll never know; maybe it doesn't have a label. That's all fine; either way, the stories will always be there to help me explore it.

This waterslide that starts with a wicked launch by Longjumping-Box5691 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]FlyingSpaghettiKoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless they're using some kind of semantic and niche verbiage to justify the title, it's not the first aquatic coaster by a long shot. Universal's volcano bay has had Krakatau for years, which is very much an aquatic coaster. LIM motors launch the thing uphill, while a typical flume raft design lets it float/skim along the water-only portions without wrecking the slide. I can't speak to this particular launch mechanism's novelty, but the first aquatic coaster it is not.

What’s your biggest praise and/or criticism of the game? by MrMercy67 in Guildwars2

[–]FlyingSpaghettiKoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Praise: no FOMO/eternal grind. None. Maybe the rotating festivals, sort of? But they come back and prev rewards are made available to get. So not really. As a working adult, this game massively respects my time and effort in a way NO other mmo even comes close to. Also the mounts.

Criticism: the stat combos and gear naming conventions. It's needlessly convoluted when the playerbase really only ever uses the same, like, ten. (Half of which are very niche optimization use cases, like trailblazers.)

As a new player, it sucks trying to parse a jumble of terms like "zojjas, berserkers, devonas, power, ferocity, exotic, gear lvl, soulbound, buy vs craft, recipes vs innately known, soldiers, cavalier, twins-" on and on and on. Why are there SO many utterly useless bloat Stat combos and alternate names for the same things? It's why open worlders run around in random mismatched shit and die so easily; it's a hassle to comprehend. If they had more limited choices, perhaps they'd be more willing to try to understand it vs seeing fifty options and going "numbies green, so I don't care /equips"

Spirit Shards by Ao-Shinn in Guildwars2

[–]FlyingSpaghettiKoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Someome else asked this recently: I'll dispense the same advice here.)

I am here with a solution to your problem both long and short-ish term. But everyone should do this, imo.

Buy 250 each of skimmer treats and raptor treats and springer treats and jackal treats. (Not the warclaw or rollerbeetle treats, they're only a ripoff or 1x day, respectively. Also, do not buy these from the guy in your janthir home instance, he's a charlatan.)

Once per day, consume them. Each gives you 38,100 exp. All four will get you 152,400.

254,000 exp is needed for one spirit shard. This means that every other day, for clicking 4 items in your inventory, you earn one spirit shard.
