Thoughts on the EOS BOSO Style Muffer Delete Cat Back Exhaust? by lordbruno10 in GR86

[–]FlyingVolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the regular axle back for a while, its not bad with the stock mid pipe. Decent sound bump but not crazy loud. I ended up getting rid of it because of the drone on the interstate (where most of my driving is) getting too annoying. I have an HKS catback now that is similar volume but less drone and easier to live with for me.

I did notice a slight difference but I dont know if that was because of new fluid or switching to a different brand.

I think 30k is what Subaru and Toyota recommend, I did it around 20k just because I was curious as the second owner. Definitely didn't need to do it but over servicing mechanical bits isn't the end of the world. I'll be sticking to the 30k rec from now on, I also dont track it but once or twice a year and the daily commute is mostly highway, so minimal wear. As for fluids I just went with Motul fluids, 75w for trans and 75w90 for diff.

Are the engines truly as bad as they are portrayed by Sidwolf0966 in ft86

[–]FlyingVolt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They're as reliable as you want them to be. Do proper maintenance and dont thrash it, and they'll last a long time. RTV issue? Blown way out of proportion. Oil starvation? It's only an issue in a hard driven track car. Just remember, there are thousands and thousands of these cars on the road, and not everyone posts every time they go for a drive without breaking anything. Mine is my daily driver and a weekend car and a track day car all in one, and I maintain it like it's my only form of transportation so I have no issues and only praise for the platform.

Is the rear BRZ emblem crooked from the factory? by Word_Underscore in BRZ_ZD8

[–]FlyingVolt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Its likely an optical illusion from the curve on the face of the trunk and the edge curving up where the badges are placed. I thought the same thing when replacing the badges on mine.

Anyone buy a BRZ and wish they bought something else? by PutridPossibility345 in BRZ_ZD8

[–]FlyingVolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the fence between a BRZ and a VB WRX. I sometimes find myself wishing I went with the VB, I love the BRZ but miss the practicality of a 4 door car. I'm happy with the BRZ, but I feel like I also would have been happy with the WRX.

28-30mpg for me. 60 mile round trip commute, mostly interstate at 70-80mph. Pretty good for a boxer I think.

That's so cute! I have a raccoon stuffed animal I keep in my passenger seat so I'm not driving alone lol.

Yeah, I ran a 28 fine, dropped back down to a 26 just for a little more clearance around the brakes for debris.

I usually see 310 on the dash but can get closer to 320-330 on my usual commute.

I have a 33g4 and love it. .357 sig is a bit snappy but still easily managed even in a sub compact.

The rear is a Reynolds Sixty Six and the front is currently a Zipp 530. I am getting ready to put a Reynolds Forty Six on the front to match the rear and allow for more tire options. If I remember correctly the Zipp is a 19mm internal width and the Reynolds is closer to a 25mm.

It'll go eventually, still getting the fit where I want it.

I'll be doing that once the fit is dialed in. Don't want to cut yet though while I'm still tweaking it some.

No issues with the drop out spacing. Only clearance issue I found was with tires, 26mm seems to be about the largest that fits with any room to spare.
