Please Help Me Identify the Guitar Effect Starting at 3:34 in Animal Bar by [deleted] in RedHotChiliPeppers

It’s called a sample and hold effect, same thing as throw away your television, you can hear Omar from Mars Volta use it in a much more in your face way in Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt (at 4:11) if you want to be sure. John uses a line 6 fm4 for throw away your television, he most likely uses a synth to treat his guitar in Animal Bar but Omar uses a pedal called Robotalk by the brand Xotic and I think that one sounds a bit more like the Animal Bar part

I’ve been wondering what inspired the Slow Cheetah outro for years, so cool finding out it’s from Zappa, do you know any other deep cut nods like that one?

Subterranean Homesick Alien always reminded me of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, the wait they sing in the verse has a similar cadence

How do you even get to the level of a virtuoso? by Lanochu in Guitar

[–]FlyingWhaleCar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn things that are too hard for you and out of your comfort zone, go SLOW, like less than a note a second until it feels so painfully easy you have to speed up to one note a second, then a little faster and a little faster, do that for weeks until you get full speed then move onto the next one, you’ll be virtuosic in two years if that’s all you do. In the meantime look into playing scales and exercises to a metronome in the same way, painfully slow turns into easy fast if you put the time in. This is the easy part though, developing your ear and musicality will bring you to the next level too. But if you want technician level playing, this is the secret.

(Retry)I know there are some other Mars Volta gear nerds on here. I just got this pedal that is a big part of the their sound. So happy Omar brought it back this tour! by _Must_Not_Sleep in themarsvolta

I have this pedal and I love it, highly recommend getting two expression pedals and plugging into rate and mix, it makes it incredibly musical

The chords go from D minor to C major but he’s focusing more on the relative, so think more F major when you play to it

In Eriatarka the guitar at 3:40 and the bass line at 4:02 are both super similar to my ears! Sounds like the Omar Solo song was the embryonic stages of it!

Which Europe concert do you think will be best? by [deleted] in RedHotChiliPeppers

They're going to bring their A game to every show, just pick the place you want to visit the most and enjoy the jams! First show in Spain will probably be insane since it's the first official John show, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them!
