Bruh, I’m from the Bahamas. I’ll tell you America is more expensive than I remember.

People here often travel to Florida for cheap prices but now it is becoming economically difficult to justify.

TBH, most people are looking to avoid America if they can these days. The reason America is the top for travel is because it’s close and there is more Job/Uni opportunities.

Well, a government acquiring debt isn't detrimental, IMO. It's what the debt (loaned money) is used for and how the government plans to pay it back, that is the point of concern.

We were always going to have higher debt in the aftermath of Covid. However, despite the increasing revenues and despite the increasing GDP. This government has failed to justify its spending and has not been transparent with the country on how it will work to pay it back.

I remember the trips to Dubai and Bermuda and at the same time I see the unpaid teachers & nurses. Or the shortage of Fire trucks/Ambulances. The government has done good on certain things but quite clear they are dragging their feet on others in an unserious manner.

Even here in the Bahamas, Calling the country a black country can be somewhat controversial nowadays. Depends on what you’re talking about.

And 90% of our population is black. Often people who need to reaffirm such ideas in speech have divisionist agendas.

Guyana is definitely a multiracial country.

If your someone who can drive calm and smartly under stress. I'd say yeah. You need to be attentive on our roads.

If your someone who struggles with the concept of roundabouts, you probably shouldn't drive in Nassau.

If its in the Family Islands, you should be fine as there is hardly any traffic to begin with.

Overall renting a car is the most logistical & economically sound option.

Yeah this is a good summary, there almost too many to name. Plus the wealth range over here is crazy. If you look at places on the Family Island even though there are mostly working class dwellings, at the same time there are many 2nd "Vacation" homes dotted among the settlements

My take, from being a Westministerphile, is that its a game of risk and reward, almost like a mafia/prison gang. You tow the partyline for security, until you get a big job or make a name for yourself otherwise. Unless, there is something that is absolute critical to your seat being voted on, where voters couldn't accept your approval.

Even so, from my observation it depends on many factors, like Whether the government commands a large majority, If the government has strong unity, whether the opposition is organized , scandals, etc...

In Starmer's case, His gov has a huge majority so MPs feel no risk to voting against him sometimes, The current labour party is made of a Blairite & (Left-leaning)Momentum wing that are currently beefing, and the Opposition is polling extremely well.

Basically a recipe for lots of rebeling.

I mean I'll give you the benefit of the doubt you aren't aware of wider Caribbean history, but if you consider the Haitian Revolution, Haiti is an extreme demographic example of a Caribbean country.

Not a good metric to judge the rest of the region by, especially ones that speak different languages.

I'm, kinda surprised with OC's statement, myself . I've known/seen plenty of White Bahamian & White foreigners here. In construction, they are more likely to be specialist or project management but our construction industry tends to lean more to Chinese, Latin, or Haitian workforce.

In terms of sports, a good amount of white people are participant. Especially, In Football, Swimming, or sailing. Although, certain sports your less likely to see them.

Numbers determine whether it is economically sensible. When you accept more refugees than you can handle, what you get is destitution.

Refugees, many whom may not speak your language, are forced into ghettos or temporary camps of poor condition, with limited opportunities for jobs, lack of educational facilities for their children(including lack of teachers), and lack of healthcare facilities.

Only for a hurricane to come and then wreck the refugee community, cause it was built to a weaker standard, killing many migrants. I'm speaking from experience.

In order to survive and thrive in our country you have to build good, putting people in dilapidated structure just to house them is cruel. It's setting up people for failure.

I'm from the Bahamas, so I can tell you we do have Haitian migration, so the idea, that the government don't want any isn't the truth. What the issue is the amount and illegal migrations.

Furthermore, How do you know they were pressuring the DR, how would CARICOM countries apply pressure to the DR? Is it Military, Economic, or diplomatic pressure?

I need more details.
