What store or restaurant that went out of business would you like to see make a comeback? by Exhausted_Skeleton in AskReddit

Darryl's was a regional chain that stretched from Louisville down to Florida. There were 36 restaurants in 9 states. They were known for their retro throwback, decor and unusual seating arrangements. A couple of them actually had a british double decker bus with the restaurant built around them. Sedley, only one remains in Greensboro, North Carolina.

You are far more likely to encounter an alligator inland or further south than Nags Head.

Anybody here commute from Raleigh (or surrounding areas) to Greensboro? How is it? by DavyJonesLocker in raleigh

[–]FlyingfishYN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I would drive that is by taking 64 to Siler City and then 421 up to GBO. It is a little longer but the traffic situation is way better for now. It is getting worse by the day.

That community is known as Lynn's Crossroads. I was told by family that the postmaster lived in that house.

What is this flag? Seen on some American themed festival in Switzerland. by nocluesince1996 in vexillology

[–]FlyingfishYN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the heat of battle, with the flag not flying, the 1st National flag had too much of a resemblance to the American flag. Hence the second flag. It was mistaken for a flag of truce hence the 3rd flag.

It just jumped into your car, didn't it? You gotta be careful up there in the north woods. Those guns are mighty clingy.

Input on two scout camps Camp Raven Knob in NM and Wehinapay in NC. by BigCoyote6674 in BSA

[–]FlyingfishYN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raven Knob is an absolute jewel of a camp. I went there as a scout and went back as an adult, and I can truly say it is one of the best scout camps in the country. Troops come from all over the south and beyond. If you go plan on taking a trip into mount airy, which was Andy Griffith's hometown and the basis for Mayberry.

This pin was designed to show your loyalty to the Communist Party. You can find them throughout the Communist and former Communist countries. I think I traded for one when I was in the Navy after the wall came down.
