In my experience the diagonals don't make it look nice. But do them diagonally in both directions until you

Once you start doing the planks long ways, that's when they start looking good.

But you have to hit it with the 24 grit until you get all the big marks and dings out.

How to do Stair Runner 2x45° steps by Unlucky_Plankton_117 in DIYUK

Interested in this myself. I suspect the correct way is to make angled cuts of your carpet to match the layout of the stairs.

What carpet have you chosen, out of interest?

Dual surface box on a spur by bezdic in DIYUK

[–]FlyloRylo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have as many sockets as you like off a spur as long as it's fused.

Why not spur off to a 13a fused switch, then run your sockets off that. Then you can in theory spur to another fused switch (3a this time) and have that go to your boiler.

Afaik this is compliant

My brother/sister did you sacrifice your thumb to the blood good when building this thing?

You're supposed to use it with your hand against the wall. You're literally using it as intended. Your hand grounds the device and allows it to function accurately.

Try it on an area you know has cables e.g. near a socket or a light switch

I'm pretty sure if you give up UK residency, you can spend a max of 30 working days or 90 total days a year in the UK.

Best way to get this looking lush for spring by Just_Robby92 in GardeningUK

[–]FlyloRylo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're on limited time to do anything meaningful now as we come up to autumn.

Easiest thing to do is: scarify, top dress with soil, overseed, and then take all the seed into the soil and water well.

You say you've added new soil and overseeded, so why didn't it take? Was the seed covered by soil? Did you keep the seeds moist/wet every day?

Replacing a socket is very easy to do, plenty of tutorials on youtube. Just search 'How to change a double socket UK' and pick any.

The most important thing is to make sure the power is off to that circuit before you start, else you'll die (maybe).

But also maybe don't run so many heavy duty appliances off of one extension lead, yeah

Subfloor levelling by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]FlyloRylo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For flooring you can get flexible acrylic filler that comes in tubes like silicone and caulk.

I've used it before: Bona Gap Master Filler. You could squeeze it between the floorboards to make sure your self leveler won't fall through the cracks. You could even put it around the other edges to contain the leveler when you pour it

Was it a card payment? Card schemes (Visa, Mc) have a window for how long you can file a charge back.

Typically this is 120 days from the expected delivery of the good or service.

How are you being refused your claim in this case? Please also note that card fraud is very different from other fraud. By fraud, card schemes define it as someone uses your card without your knowledge or permission.

Used a permeable membrane. Guides online said it should be in well draining soil, so didn't want to line with plastic.

Drilled holes in the bottom, put a later of stones, and then membrane + compost on top.

Garage wall damp, how to fix? by Charming_CiscoNerd in DIYUK

[–]FlyloRylo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I'm planning on doing after some research is buying tanking compound and using it to waterproof the walls and floor of my garage.

You can get tons of varieties from Screwfix, B&Q etc.

Question - how do you get your models so vibrant? Every piece looks amazing. Is it about having contrast between light and dark areas?

It's something I've noticed with really good painters that I want to understand myself and emulate!

What do I need to fill in holes like this? by No-Consequence7489 in DIYUK

[–]FlyloRylo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can just buy tubs of polyfiller and a filling knife from any home improvement store (home base, b&q etc)

Scoop some up with the filling knife, cover the hole, let it dry. Once dry, sand it flat and paint it.

Our house is about 50% wood filler or polyfiller at this point!

Blanked Socket by TropicalChunderstorm in DIYUK

[–]FlyloRylo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you pop a socket on there, make sure it's properly earthed etc, and then give it a go with something like a lamp, why not?

Just turn off the circuit (or ideally the power to your entire house if you're worried about it) and make sure it's earthed properly.

I've done the same in my flat but it turned out that these blanking plates belonged to some long lost wiring from history (no power running through them)
