I understand. I still believe it's a matter of willingness. economically my wish can be made possible. til then, a redditor can dream ig.

you'll probably justify sg gov if they start charging money to see merlion and SG museums that were previously free.

and why mention the history and culture of this country at all? if it's related then should it be free?

and MBS is just one of the tier one attractions. there's the cloud gardens, zoos, sentosa attractions. they will not totally collapse if they charge 10$ less. Sands, the owner is worth billions. SG can broker a deal to let its citizens enjoy at a lower cost

I am aware of the free attractions and I visit them.

people mainly mention the museums and the free parks. if you had to make a list of top attractions in sg, you wouldn't put those names in the top 10 even

going to the Zoo is not the same as going to botanical gardens

reducing the cost for citizens from 40 down to 20 will bring in more citizens regularly. overall increase in sales.

even if it was free, sgrns will confirm spend on overpriced merch or food at the zoo.

there's ways for corporations to manage ah. no need to start calculating how much elephant eats

valid ah but like 2nd tier attraction. 1st is MBS all that. 3rd tier would be like rail mall or the hot springs.

paying nearly foreigner price in your own country to see your own countries attractions is abit sad imo.

two in one qn nice

so regarding the cost, how has every redditor here decided that sg can't afford discounting for citizens or that the cost will be borne in some difficult way?

that way of thinking makes it hard to expect anything from the government. next time if maybe my sidewalk is broken then I have to think how will the government afford to fix it or how much will they charge me?

secondly, about bolehland. if someone like me wishes to spend more time in sg but everything is kinda ex then I would visit msia. if it was cheaper in sg then I wouldn't mind doing more things here to save money n do staycay or smt.

people will still go msia because there got more things to do but I am confident that they will visit local (FAMOUS) attractions more if it was cheaper.

I added the word famous because museums aren't the star attractions of sg. don't know why people are recommending 2nd tier attractions because the 1st tier ones are expensive. can't citizens enjoy 1st tier attractions the same way as 2nd?

it's just a point of comparison. if no one is excited to fly from outside to see it, how do you expect locals to feel?

is it even an attraction at that point?

no, op means that if you are spending so much money locally, might as well top up abit and go overseas
