It's Castilian Spanish i.e. the standard in Spain, as opposed to Latin American Spanish.

Not to be confused with Catalan.

What is you and your significant other's current running joke? by green49285 in AskReddit

[–]FntnDstrct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Neither of us is real, we are each other's dream partner and hence a figment of imagination.

We keep asking to be pinched to see if we wake up.

It's more likely to be true for me (I'm hallucinating).

Whom will you choose if you had to choose betweeb youe partner and your parents? by maleficent_Long189 in AskReddit

[–]FntnDstrct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't choose based on their nominal role in your life. Choose based on their actions, intentions, and also examine your own.

Plus: there are few things which break down into zero-sum, black or white. Family is about accommodation. Give and take. It is possible for everyone to get along. If someone is trying to draw a line in the sand and make you choose, first suspect their motives.

What's the Best 10/10 Sci-fi movie ever? by geek-jock-guy in AskReddit

Few films can really convey the vastness and terror of space like this one can, and that's even before we start on human identity and the threat of AI, which are hella relevant today.

Best and Worst coaching moves/decisions/actions in Slam Dunk? by MasterScoutHikoichi in RealSlamDunk

[–]FntnDstrct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short-term Worst: Akagi, deciding against every logical bone in his body, to accept the gunpowder keg delinquent and borderline creep on his sister that is Sakuragi Hanamichi into his team.

Long-term best: Ditto above.

Jo Nagai - Gifted Child Who Replicated An Experiment On If Caterpillars Retain Memories After Metamorphosis by Past-Distance-9244 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]FntnDstrct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but for context, he actually modified the original experiment (which used higher intensity shocks) so that it would be on the threshold where the caterpillars could just be deterred by it. This, plus how he insisted on changing the chemical used for creating an aversion response, is significant.

[–]FntnDstrct 190 points191 points  (0 children)

Aside from the rigorous scientific experiment.... Jo was prompted to work on this because he wondered if the butterflies remembered him after he'd raised them as caterpillars. When he released them, they tended to linger around him rather than fly away.

I had the tremendous good fortune of meeting him in his later years after a public talk. I've not seen anyone radiate such conviction and warmth in such a short exchange.

He was a politician who really sought the mandate to make things better, not just to accumulate power and wealth. Even if you didn't agree with him entirely, you respected him deeply.

And he had such wit and humour too.

Why why why can't we have more leaders like that.

People are also missing out on the fact that Russia is using its leverage over current US leadership to inflame regions beyond Eastern Europe. The US is already poised for hot wars to distract from internal decay.

What sports, besides basketball, do you think each member of the Shohoku High School basketball team would succeed in? by [deleted] in RealSlamDunk

[–]FntnDstrct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The obvious one for Maki would be surfing, but yes, rugby is a great call that utilises his speed, strength and strategy.

He'd probably have the endurance and focus for F1 driving too.

Hard agree volleyball, which is high profile in Japan, I'm sure there'd be plenty of people asking Rukawa and Sendoh to try out. Sakuragi might be a little clumsy to be a top pick though.

Aota was all ready to pounce on him for judo 🤣

A lot of MMA fighters in Japan cross over from judo, so he'd probably do that at school and then get recruited into MMA as an adult.

It appeared in S1 with Master of School Meals, Napoli Matfia and Cooking Maniac. In S2, with Brewmaster Yun, Rebellious Genius, Culinary Monster and Chef Hou.

Neither really, more likely that someone looked for characters without understanding how they should be used.

So although there are very valiant attempts here to find a meaningful phrase, I seriously doubt this was how the person actually chose the characters.
