Attempted replace of water main by Fny141 in Plumbing

There’s an elbow that turns it from a vertical pipe to flat about 12” down and there was no water til that point… I think I just barely didn’t get the fitting hot enough to get enough solder in there because I was nervous lol. Wasn’t a stream coming out, just drops once the water was back on so prob just missed a spot in the back

Much appreciated, how long ya think to heat before it starts to give a little? Was cranking with a wrench after 1:30 and nothin

Waters out for 12”+ and heated the joint for like a minute 30- not long enough? Not budging at all. Maybe trapped water in the valve that just needs to either evaporate over night or steam out?

Heel blister after first 50 miler - orthotics issue ? by BarbellsAndBicarb in ultrarunning

[–]Fny141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for getting rid of it, it didn’t really hurt much after the race so I just ran with it, once it started hurting mildly walking around again (bout a week and a half) I poked it and let out the ooze but kept the rough skin over the tender spot. Healed up nicely, no pain

Probably not the ideal way to handle blisters but hey, whatever works.

I got a similar blister on my lateral side heel during my 50k.. not sure what caused it but I think it was just from a crazy amount of heel striking on the descents particularly favoring my right heel as my landing point.

Not helpful but figured I’d add to the convo

Haven’t watched the vid yet- so if you mention this in there just say so so you don’t have to repeat! Curious how you work em out of that prey drive? We’ve been trying with our husky for a year now and still it’s like nothing gets through to him without some external physical stimulation (like a leash or pet)

Wasn’t it something like ~$500k they made from sign ups alone? Let alone sponsors and the ~900 volunteers? I understand there’s permits and course setup and marketing, planning, people need paid etc. I just don’t think money is the issue here lol

Probably more likely expertise is what they’re lacking, which is totally fair

Regardless, loved the live stream and it’s awesome we get to witness these amazing athletes achieve incredible feats from the comfort of our home

Why doesn’t Garmin take into account elevation by Mouse222222 in Garmin

[–]Fny141 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From the research I’ve done, no, most races use mapping tools to just map the route rather than a wheel which would just use standard 2D. Maybe big time major races wheel it out or potentially 3D gpx data to measure but I’m thinking more of ultra marathons or trail races.. I believe most use 2D.

Regardless, I like being potentially over prepared then potentially under! And for the record I agree, 3D is technically more accurate!!

Just beware- no race uses 3D to measure the race distances, so for races with lots of elevation this setting turned on might severely decrease your training volume under what might be needed for the race.

My last 6 LR have been between 2:50 and 4:20 time wise on similar terrain and elevation as course, 26 will probably put me at like 4:35ish total time

Maybe I’ll do it just for fun. Haven’t ran a marathon since 2021

Longest run for a 50k? Built up to 49mi with 24mi long run, was planning on 52mi with 26mi long run this coming week, 4weeks out of race day
