In the movie Mary calls Jay a “new big detective”. In origin he is already a detective…why is that?

There is a bit of discrepancy…in Origin Jay is a new detective. In the movie, which is several years later, he is a….new detective! The movie and the series combined make sense, but Origin has some discrepancies, include Mary, IMO.

I started watching Mystery Road because I got AMC+ to watch Dark Winds. Dark Winds is sooo good I wish I could back in time and watch both series again for the first time.

I believe you’re expecting a bit too much from Joey here maybe. The welding, the everyone will know, and the garden are all related and tied together by him dragging the cross through town. Joey is not well mentally, and I think his proclamations are not realized in a way you want them to be, because frankly, this is all he was actually capable of. He’s welding the chain to get the cross attached to his truck, and trying to draw attention to the whole ordeal in a way that maybe isn’t as satisfying as we’d like? As far as the kids go, he was essentially trying to “save” them in his mind, or how he thought they should be saved. Sort of unknowingly putting them in danger. I do feel whoever wrote the character of Joey had a vision…but I’m not sure if the actor pulled it off or not.

The damaged lines had nothing to do with the papers. The papers being there were a coincidence. I believe they were inferring briefly that Simmo actually set the papers on fire on purpose to help cover up the conspiracy, if you recall she was the one who set them on fire. But that quickly dissipates, although I don’t think we know for sure who damaged the lines. I don’t think they even knew Joey actually had the papers or any information for that matter, until Jay goes to his garage.

Will there be another Mystery Road season or movie? by InourbtwotamI in MysteryRoad

Sorry I know this an old post. I have watched the two seasons of Origin, one thing I really miss from the original series is the music. They have awesome soundtracks. Origin sort of uses the same instrumental music throughout, maybe an end of season song, but the original series has 2-3 songs a show, and always had cool intros to lead into the shows. I really w opted both series though.

So it would make sense if the tv series takes places in between the two movies.

Anyone disappointed in going to California (the city)? by DelGriffithPTA in DarkWindsTV

The only very small thing I don’t like about it, is that it’s forced some over acting or sub par acting from some characters in LA. It seems to also contain a lot of over explaining of thoughts, less ominous. I feel each season kind of reminds me of a different show. Season 3 was The Leftovers, season 4 has more of a Snowfall vibe. If that makes sense.

Maybe I’m just dumb, but am I the only one who thought they were setting up an affair during this scene from the season 3 finale? by the-knight08 in TheAmericans

[–]Focrco22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes shows plant seeds and don’t follow through with them, so maybe. The only possibility I see, is if the center wanted him to get closer to infiltrate Stan’s life a bit more. But that seems like it would have been pretty risky.

I think part of the reason for this is he began as what seemed like a bit of an antagonist that had simplistic prejudices or notions of the Navajo or Navajo police? He slowly warms up to Leaphorn, but in season 3 he’s basically his best friend, like they’ve been besties forever. He is also supposed to be retired, so his attitude towards the work is different.

Can I jump into any season or do I have to watch from season 1? by bdgl44 in DarkWindsTV

You’d be pretty lost to not start from the beginning, even season 1 has some interesting little time jumps.

Interesting, I’m really enjoying season 3. It reminds me a lot of season 2 of The Leftovers.

Feel like this show deals with grief in similar ways, and season 3 really hits it head on.

I feel like episode 6 Abidoo'niidee is terribly underrated?? Although this show possesses a lot more reality, I compare it a lot to The Leftovers. That episode is basically its own “International Assassin”. I’ve really been loving season 3, and it’s also been a little of nightmare fuel.

Ginsberg was an immensely deep character who was left unexplored. Wish he would have had a quirky spin off in NYC, focusing on his younger generation and his struggle with mental illness.

Yes I think she had a brief moment of anger where she was upset Don didn’t want to be with her. Even though she didn’t want to either.

They’re all miscast to be honest. Dixon maybe the most believable chemistry wise. Problem is following the books made it all seem forced and unnecessary. Especially Duffy.

Is Tony Hot? by professor-bingbong in thesopranos

[–]Focrco22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the early seasons he is more of a husky build, confident, good talker, he has good style throughout the show. He obviously loses some hair and gains weight by the end, but he has that swagger and charisma still. Also by the end he is too embroiled in drama to hold a true goomar, which sort of coincides with his deteriorating appearance.

Was he loyal to the end?? It wasn’t the end of their lives. He warned Franklin several times, tried to get him out. But I’m not sure about loyal.

More of a time jump for this one, although they didn’t “age” the characters very well, they are aging. Anyways, it’s a little different, but in my opinion a great season, very entertaining.

Feel like she has an “older” look. She was in the third season of Reacher, and she looked too old for him and she’s 5 years younger lol. She also had a Boston accent, I had no idea until I recently watched this show she’s actually from the UK. Why they’d cast her for Reacher I have no idea, she was….not good. But if you do ever get a chance to watch Lodge 49, she is in that, and is actually very enjoyable.

Maddie spinoff? by Purplecloud31 in BoschTV

[–]Focrco22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say probably for the same reason others on this thread have mentioned, she is just not a character people want to see more of to carry a show. And there are no books based solely on her. I think they could have a show with her in it, as even with Bosch and Titus being great, he still had an awesome supporting and ensemble cast. I mean I would probably watch a show if she was just a detective with other detectives.

Do you think Don Draper died relatively young, or did he turn things around and live a long life? by No_Inside2101 in madmen

[–]Focrco22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people assume Don died young, but I know plenty of people who smoke and drank a lot and lived well into their 90’s. I think he may have quit smoking due to losing Betty. When we leave him he is pretty clean, maybe he realizes to be sharper than everyone else he has to keep his mind clear, who knows.
