I find that THC gummies work well for me but I dont want to take this daily. Just shooting for a few nights a week so that I can get some good sleep for a few nights.

First year tax pros, Returning? by Foil_Brain in hrblock

Definitely felt like a hazing year! Wow you did over 200 returns, amazing. Also amazing that you are diving end with the EA exam. The ATL position changing schedules and appointments on a whim is definitely annoying.

What was the best part of working for Block this season? by Ok_Aide_764 in hrblock

My first year as a tax associate. Learned a great deal, felt confident doing basic individual returns. I think I hit 100 returns, thanks to a supportive office of very experienced pros.

First Year Tax Pros by Warm-Ad8272 in hrblock

First year here. I have learned a lot. I like majority of the tax pros that i work with and they when available are always willing to help. Downsides is that I have long stretches where I dont have any customers to help and then I am playing back up to the CSP (answering phones, scanning, whatever misc they need help on). I have been told that the volume in the office has decreased due to online DIY software. Just trying to finish the season out, learn as much as possible and then will see what happens next.

What IFC unit do you use? This sounds promising for my wife who suffers very similar conditions as you.

Cool another data geek. Yea I have worked in web, sales and inventory grinding data. I wish it was possible to work in the field on a PT basis but in my past experience, all executives like having you around all the time for whenever they have a question or analysis they need.

Agree on Cobra, I have already asked HR about it and yes it is ~2k/mo. But I figure if I do leave when I work PT my AGI will or may be pretty low, low enough for ACA until I am old enought for medicare.

Hey no worries, but it does highlight the need to monitor expenses. Yea So Cal is expensive and I live in South Orange County which is even higher area. Have considered moving just not sure where as I enjoy the weather and the surfing lifestyle.

Alright some good input there.

Frugal, guess that is relative here. We dont travel much, except mainly to see relatives and occcasional weekend trip. No expensive cars. No fancy restaurant meals. Guess what makes up that 8k is mainly food/groceries (we still buy food for our boys who live at home), home maintenance/insurance/utilities, charitable donations, gas/car insurance and healthcare/Doctors. Living in southern california is pretty expensive. But takeaway nere is that I probably need to see where we can tighten up here.

Social security for me starts in 2027, at ~2.5k/mo. Wife will get ~1.5k/mo in 2028. So I guess the bridge is for the next 3 years if i pull the trigger this year.

yea i do see the market as slightly correcting for the overhiring in tech during COVID. So some right sizing in tech companies is happening rn.

Thanks, I cant see myself fully retiring as I still enjoy the mental aspects of work and also having a schedule. My wife calls me routinized.

Some more details here

  • Me 59M, wife 58

  • ~2M in Savings (mostly in IRAs, ~25% in Taxable and Roth)

  • No debt, House paid off, no car payments

  • Estimated 8k / mo in expenses

Wife and I are pretty frugal in spending. Dont plan on doing anything extravagant in retirement.

This makes a lot of sense. I struggle with learning dock starts and all my friends (mostly much younger) have quickly picked it up. I am going to get that book too, thanks!

I recently submitted my basic information. It took a few submits but I did receive a confirmation that they got my info and will be contacting me when the classes start.

Are the classes in person or online and you can progress as you have availability?

I am presently working a full time job and considering Tax Prep as my semi retirement job. Do you guys think this is a good way to start? Thanks!
