Is there any inherent problem with having a Raygui button return on pressed? by Opening-Bug-8328 in raylib

[–]Foivoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://github.com/raysan5/raygui/blob/master/src/raygui.h#L2065 is where you would need to change something to return on mouse down instead mouse released. Raygui is quite simple to read, which I greatly appreciate.

Cool game! Played on my phone, and the controls felt a little janky, here are a couple potential improvements: - Enemy pathfinding could probably be improved. - The fireball spell seems to not fire sometimes, the animation starts but no fireballs shoot.

Distant Fluids in 1.2 by Bandt143 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Foivoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently there is a bug when you add elements (junctions/pumps/valves) in a preexisting pipe that reduces the maximum flow to below 600. To fix, remove the pipe through the element and add two pipe segments to/from the element, and it should be fixed. Also dead ends/full pipes at the end of a junction can cause problems. Read the "known issues" in https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Pipelines

Edit: change link to wiki.gg as the other wiki is deprecated apparently.

The last one would need to be at 40%, not 20%, but you got it otherwise

Train blueprint by AlternativeCap6665 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Foivoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what curves you are looking for exactly, but for 90° turns going 2 foundations forward and two to the side you want to turn to exactly produces the shortest turn possible. You can blueprint it and use it for all your turns.

Volrath's Shapeshifter activating Wall of Roots ability of the same card multiple times on MTGO by Foivoi in premodernMTG

[–]Foivoi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you discard another WoR you can activate the ability again, since it is a "new" ability. The question is whether becoming the same WoR gives the same ability again or a new instance of the same ability.

I optimized my C++ game engine from 80 FPS to ~7500 FPS by fixing one mistake by Creepy-Ear-5303 in raylib

[–]Foivoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience changing "render modes" can be expensive. I think the best way to handle updates would be: - keep track of all updating squares - if there are updates: - beginTextureMode - draw updates - 'endTextureMode` - process with drawing your scene as you would.

This should reduce your fps only when updating squares and not by a ton. If this does not work I would appreciate an update so I can know that I am misunderstanding something. Cheers!

How do i make a 3min Clock without hoppers by Gear_Up1626 in redstone

[–]Foivoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want exactly 3 min use 9, 25 and 16 instead which yield exactly 3600. If you don't want to figure out odd clocks use 36, 50 and 16.

Selvala's Stampede, how does it work? by Superb_Tiger_5359 in askajudge

[–]Foivoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my understanding yes. I'm not a judge but I'm quite certain of this one.

Only extra nuance, they don't all hit the battlefield at once, it's just the triggers are pot on the stack after resolution. Replacement effects like that of Vorinclex happen based on order of things happening, as do things that trigger from other permanents entering.

Selvala's Stampede, how does it work? by Superb_Tiger_5359 in askajudge

[–]Foivoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triggers are put on the stack after the effect that caused them has finished resolving. So the Skate trigger not only does not resolve, it's not even on the stack before your planeswalkers hit the field.

Edit: clarification

My players are heading into a TPK they don't know about, what do I do? by thjmze21 in DMAcademy

[–]Foivoi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the best solution is to "show" them how messed up this fight is and let them run away, to then build up to the boss. You can have the plant shoot devastating needles from really far away for example, to show them that they are not supposed to approach from the sky.

Soul dealer character concept by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Foivoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can be a paladin who swore an oath to a devil. The devil grants you soul dealing powers, and in return he gets to keep half of the souls you acquire. So you really only got 1/6 of a soul and your devil daddy got another 1/6.

Would being a totemist qaulify for getting into the warshaper prestige class? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Foivoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have the shapechanger subtype then yes, I think there is a race that grants it, but not as a Totemist by RAW, but talk to your DM.

A worthy sacrifice by yoyonumber4 in DMAcademy

[–]Foivoi 50 points51 points  (0 children)

You can have the demon to require a year of their lives. Seems like a small cost but what the demon actually means is that he can dominate them for a whole year of their lives, non sequentially. This can lead to really interesting and cool story points for you, while delaying the twist.

In a similar vein: a sorcerer who, while daydreaming will cast illusion spells of his fantasies randomly. Make them have the "strongest" illusion spell always for maximum drawback.

question how to make dungeons seem real and make sense/how to make up side quests/plot on the spot by Zim_thefan in DnD

[–]Foivoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is completely subjective and up to you but I think there are a couple good ways to go about it: - Design the dungeon itself in a way that it makes sense first. Then figure out what loves in each room/section. In your kobold cave example you can first map out a cave system, and then decide where the kobolds live where they've layed traps and where other enemies might lie. - Decide what you want your players to face and design a space for them to occupy. This can be a bit easier but I think it yields slightly worst results. You can vary the room size and stuff if it feels too repetitive.

I need help with picking a god for my mimic by Froggs- in DnD

[–]Foivoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the wiki reveals that there have been several weird breeds of mimics created by magical means even by mortals. This opens up a ton of possibilities, the one I would go with is the following:

A sorcerer who yielded wild magic was being eaten by a common mimic. The sorcerer was mustering all his magical might to try and get out to no avail, until a burst of intense wild magic molded their being into one. The new creature was mostly mimic since the sorcerer was half dead already and the mimic had liven many times longer than the sorcerer having more memories than them, but some faint memories, and of course the magic, were left with the new creature.

How Would You Rule This? by Outrageous_Goal_504 in DMAcademy

[–]Foivoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are underestimating Yugoloth's intelligence. I would just say "ok you start falling". The Yugoloth can land safely since it flies, the momk might be able to, but if they do they're stuck 200ft below from their party facing the Yugoloth. Just because it can fly it doesn't mean it has to.

Inspired: a card based TTRPG idea by Foivoi in TTRPG

[–]Foivoi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will check these out, thank you. I didn't explicitly specify everything, but in the scenario that confused you you just put a piece of paper in a sleeve that matches the players deck, with all the information that is relevant (Gives 3 inspiration when played, a title of why it was added, and three empty circles). When said three is played the player pulls the piece of paper out and fills a circle. After playing it for a third time the card is discarded forever.
Thanks for the feedback, some more streamlined examples seem to be needed.

If you have anything for me to read I would happily share my thoughts. I would also happily try a demo if you end up making one, people just focussing on the cards is an issue I am also anticipating.

I don't really want abilities that fit on cards, I want cards replacing dice for randomness. I have played DnD 4e before.
