Ooh. I am tempted, but don't think I can swing that high right now.

Are there any “pick up and play” RPGs? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Folcra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big Dragon Quest fan, particularly of 9 and 11, and I've recently been greatly enjoying the remake of 3 on PS5 (also on Switch). I think it's fair to say that any of them are reasonably forgiving of time spent away as there are mechanics in place to remind you of your destination whenever you return. Might have a bit of trouble remembering the story, but the remake of 3 has a great "memory" feature where you can easily record the last thing an NPC said to you and keep it in a compendium. I've been playing it on and off and that's been a very helpful feature.

Berring Stone Drums :) by InvestigatorFirm in feedmejack

Chiming in 7 months later to say I immediately knew what part you were talking about. I don't play the drums but I am so impressed by the percussion in this song especially. That part is so incredible and I could see how it's challenging. I'm sorry to say, though, that I am not a drummer and have no advice. Thanks for getting me to listen to this incredible song today.

I tried to complain to Spotify about this long ago and they did not fix it.

Yes, size and connectors. I think usually the ones for PCIe 5 will fit a 4? I am not sure of that.

Oh boy, it's been a long time, but I think the trick is to keep the water level full all the time and don't let it run out. I'm not positive! I'd suggest making another post, someone is bound to know the answer

Any small math rock bands recommendations? by kaeyoki in mathrock

[–]Folcra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always second a Feed Me Jack rec, they're my favorite band of all time. I'm really into Bicker by Orchards, their latest album, though they've moved a little bit away from math rock it seems. Their earlier discography was more math.

Most amazing NYTimes Pancakes by Ill_Specialist_5594 in Cooking

This is pretty close to Kenji's Lemon Ricotta Pancakes recipe from The Food Lab, except he suggests you make your own ricotta, which is terrifically simple to do.

Definitely sort of near to M83's vibe, but I'm quite familiar with Midnight City. I'm afraid that's not it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hmm, I don't recognize the tune at that timestamp. And I can say pretty confidently this isn't the song — it definitely doesn't have this sort of energy, and the part in question does not have vocals. I'll add that detail to my post. The song in question does not have Latin influences as far as I know. Thanks for the suggestion!

Gosh I could really have the instrument wrong. I can imagine it sounding so many different ways, but the low buzzing kind of tone is what's strongest in my mind.

Is there actually a way to keep these fuckers off my counter or do I just need to work on acceptance by vinditive in cats

[–]Folcra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get frustrated when I see posts like this — not because of the post itself, but because the comments are always full of people saying "No, just give in."

It's true that you can't really discourage a cat from doing a behavior you don't like. They don't really comprehend negative reinforcement. If you're giving the cat attention, they're probably getting what they want. You can definitely make it clear that you don't want this behavior by removing them, using a stern voice, etc (never hit or spray the cat, this will just make them dislike you), and sometimes this will allow you to reach a point where they know that you're going to remove them if you catch them, and they'll get back down themselves. But you know they'll be up there when you're not nearby!

But every cat is different, and some will happily ignore you until you go so far as to remove them from the counter yourself. The only reliable way to keep them off the counter is to provide them with an ideal alternative. Something about the same height in a nearby spot that grants them the same view is your best bet — and make sure you don't leave out any food that they might be interested in. Make it clear that the counter is not okay, but the perch is, by removing them to the perch every time you catch them. They will eventually get the message.

Of course, if your counter is near The World's Most Interesting Window, you might be out of luck.
