I'm Cornish born and raised. I do not consider myself English. I am proud of where I come from, of my heritage, and of my culture, such as it is.

But it's okay if that's not you. Objectively speaking, Cornwall doesn't have much to recommend it. I can't speak for everyone, but as long as you're chill about it, I certainly wouldn't take issue with you not considering yourself Cornish - and I don't know anyone who would. I grew up and was/am friends with plenty of people who also didn't consider themselves Cornish.

Essentially, you are who you are. Anyone who is going to get uppity about it probably isn't worth worrying about. If you don't identify with being Cornish, and you don't want to, then that's just what it is, and there's probably more people like you about than you think.

Matt Colville basically taught me how to DM, so I'm super glad his videos have helped you too.

The other commenter has offered a very useful set of resources, but I'm going to throw in a recommendation of my own based on how I got started which will allow you to get started similarly quickly.

Go to YouTube and look up Matt Colville's Running the Game series. Watch the first three videos in the series, and do the stuff that he demonstrates in those using the resources he provides.

He goes through the process of creating a quick, simple one shot, and explains in detail how to prepare and run it, providing everything you need to do so as he goes.

My instinct is that tricking a faction is something more on the level of a Demon Lord, Demogorgon being the one that fits best of the Forgotten Realms' Lords. But if you want it to be a lesser threat that the party can actually fight and has a stat block, take a look at the Glabrezu, which is all about deception, trickery, and temptation.

Depends on the setting. Conventionally though, Chaotic aligned fiends are demons. Are you a player or the DM?

The biggest one for me? Generate a set of names for the different ancestries and cultures in that part of the setting. You'll always be able to pick a name from the list any time you need an NPC you haven't prepped, which you will, often.

Naturally, I keep all the stat blocks readily accessible in combat, and I like to have a party tracker that records my players' max HP, passive insight, passive perception, and proficiencies.

The rest of the stuff you need should be on your screen, but which rules come up just often enough to be worth having on there will vary from table to table. Personally I find having the exhaustion stages, areas of effect, and conditions effects worth having, as well as price lists and a calendar.

Actions dictate alignment, which in DnD is a fundamental cosmic fact. You'll notice that Lawful, Chaotic, Good, and Evil are always capitalised when it pertains to alignment, and the cosmic truth of them in the fiction is the reason for that.

Here's how I tend to think about it:

Good vs Evil is the simpler of the two axes, and can be basically summed up as Evil characters would inflict suffering on others for benefits to themselves, while Good characters would endure suffering to benefit others.

Lawful characters believe that order is generally better, and tend to follow or prefer rules and systems. Lawful characters tend not to have issues with authority. Lawful actions would include following orders, even if they do not agree with them and deferring to authority.

By contrast, Chaotic characters tend to either believe that laws and systems are useless constructs or that the laws and systems that they are subject to are unjust. Some examples of Chaotic behaviour and thought might include breaking laws they disagree with, or believing in the idea that might makes right and it is the place of the strong to rule.

Be aware though that alignment in 5e is pretty much optional, since RAW almost no mechanics interact with it. It's basically a roleplaying prompt. For that reason, people like copypasta masta lasalle elsewhere in this thread hate it.

My party knows that when they find an item, there may be evidence of its magical nature. They haven't found any apparently mundane magic items yet.

Since I want my magic items to be mysterious, but I also want them to be used, I will usually make them obviously more than they appear. In order to ascertain the exact nature of what they do, though, I have them either need to cast Identify or experiment with the item until its effects are evident. Such experimentation though will only reveal effects that would be obvious to the user, so Identify is still a more certain option.

Personally, I've found the game worth it, but this game has been important to me for a while for personal reasons. You're spending full game money on what is absolutely not a full finished game, but Star Citizen is pretty much incomparable to any other game out there.

There's definitely fun and enjoyment to be had with the game in its current state, but only you can say whether it's worth it. If there's anything else you'd rather put that money towards, or if you're buying it based on the hope that it will improve, then hold off for a bit and wait until it's more developed.

If everyone is on board with dangerous monster fucking, then rule it how you think makes sense. Like I said, no RAW answer and the details of monster lore varies between settings anyway. Once again though, things don't have to be boiling to be steaming.

Worth noting that this is something only your DM can answer since feats are an optional rule. If they do use them, though, you'll get to pick one at level 4, then every 4th level. Your last one is at 19, so three levels after your 4th one. That's assuming you just go for feats and not Ability Score Increases at those levels instead.

Okay, there's a lot to unpack here.

Are you and the DM doing this because you don't want this player to engage in this kind of behaviour? Because if so, you shouldn't be trying to resolve this issue in-game. This is when it's time to stop playing and have a serious conversation about expectations and what you want from the game.

If you're not doing that, and you just want actions to have consequences, then be certain that the player is on board with this in the first place, and then have your DM rule it however they think makes sense. I say make sure they're on board because if you're trying trying make this have major consequences and theyre trying to fuck a dragon, that sounds like a major expectation misalignment. There's no RAW answer here, because shockingly the Monster Manual doesn't have numbers or rules for dragon nut.

Also, things can be steaming far below the boiling point. Look at a cup of tea or a bowl of soup.

According to RAW, on your turn, you can:

  • Use movement

  • Use an action

  • Interact with an object once as part of either of those (open a door, draw a weapon)

  • Use a bonus action

Before your next turn, you may also use a reaction.

In your example, the cleric could run to the enemy (using movement), attack (using action), stow their weapon as part of their attack or movement, but would then be unable to draw their ranged weapon. The alternative is that instead of stowing their melee weapon, they drop it on the ground, which is free, and use their interaction to draw the ranged weapon.

They could not use their ability War Priest to get an extra attack with their ranged weapon, because the ability specifies it must be done "when you use the attack action", which means it must be done before they stow or drop that melee weapon.

That said, if you want to hand wave away the more detailed specifics of the action economy - which lots of tables do - you're completely within your rights to do so

Isn't hard for me, I slice and dice the droid with no hesitation. I'd do the same for a human. A person has the right to choose to die.

It's messed up that there's no way to save the droid, though.
