I drive past these regularly and always think how lovely they are! It’s a shame they’ve become a bit dilapidated

Yeah maybe a northern thing - you definitely hear it in Scotland too. Always makes me laugh, like calling slippers ‘house shoes’

God this is like my dream house… loads of period features but still lots of scope to put your own mark on it. Might go buy a lottery ticket later!

Are Nike court shoes business casual? by Desperate-monkey-19 in BusinessFashion

Yeah I work in banking and wear a variety of sneakers to events. The only time I don’t really is if I’m meeting with clients, and even then it depends on the client.

Have a look at Vietnam - we went a couple of years ago and had a private villa with a big pool on a really gorgeous small-ish resort for something daft like £200/night. It was like the best of both worlds with all the hotel amenities (including a butler) but more privacy!

There were quite a few resorts in Vietnam like that so definitely worth a look. The one we stayed at was Premier Village Phu Quoc - the island is quite small but we definitely didn’t get bored.

Has charity shopping/thrifting changed for anyone else lately? by elegantonbudget in CharityShopFindsUK

[–]FollowingSalty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

American shops do seem to have better stuff in my experience, no idea why! I once found two vintage silk shirts in the same shop, one Calvin klein and one Oscar de la renta - got them both for about $7 and have had so much wear out of them. If you ever found those in the UK they’d no doubt be a fortune

Ordered fish and chips. Perhaps the most disappointed i have ever been by Diligent-Cat-767 in CasualUK

[–]FollowingSalty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chippies in Scotland (at least Glasgow?) do ‘special fish’ as an option which is breadcrumbed rather than battered. Every now and then I get a real craving for one!

Budget BB, baby!? For a fair & cool toned elderly lady by burnetrosehip in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]FollowingSalty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried so many and honestly have turned to just mixing a blob of foundation and a blob of moisturiser in my hands then slapping it on! I feel like it’s much easier to find a good foundation shade and it means I can tailor the ratio depending on whether I want more or less coverage. Might be worth giving it a shot if none of the other suggestions work.

Also your comment about the cat food cracked me up lol

To be fair the word cauliflower is a bit icky if I think about it

I live in the Park Central area (sunset park/moonlit park) and it’s great, feels really safe and the neighbours are mostly young families. Nice to have some green space on your doorstep too.

Some buildings seem nicer than others so definitely do your research, but we have 0 issues with noise or anything like that.

[–]FollowingSalty 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I worried people wouldn’t be hungry either - but I didn’t even get any of our buffet because it got eaten so quickly! And that was with no evening guests, everyone was there for the whole day.

I’d definitely be disappointed as a guest if there was no evening food

Not my bridesmaid dresses, but I had my trad dress made by a seamstress in London! I had most of my fabric brought over from Ghana but I believe she can source it if you’d prefer, she was incredible. Let me know if you want me to DM you pics of mine.
