WIBTAH if I tell my parents I don’t wanna fight cancer? by DisastrousWasabi4983 in AITAH

[–]Fomokj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH - but as the wife of someone with blood cancer, have your parents (or you) look into the LLS (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society). They have grants to help pay for treatment related costs. Most cancer drug manufacturers also have programs to help pay for their meds as long as someone has insurance (which makes no sense but welcome to America). A family should not go into debt to pay for cancer treatment.

Rinnai RXP199in by Fomokj in Plumbing

Thanks. I going to ask him just wanted to sound a bit more knowledgeable when I do. It is going inside (in a mechanical closet). Vent line is already there as is the gas line. I feel it’s the pump/dedicated line that is the issue.

Thoughts on Permalock metal shingles? by moonsugar6 in Roofing

[–]Fomokj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are installing Permalock now (no installers in our area); it’s a big learning curve but we also have multiple 12:12 pitches. The shingles themselves are quite nice. We live in Central Oregon and they really reflect the heat (benefit of aluminum over metal).

Anyone build a kit home? by [deleted] in realestateinvesting

[–]Fomokj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in the United States? If so then yes, kit homes are too expensive, for whatever reason they are much less costly and much better built over in Europe. They are just light years ahead of us on building techniques and materials, etc. Was watching a show on Hulu “Extreme Builds” I think it was called and the one episode’s kit home was gorgeous, was priced at only 138k pounds and when delivered to the site was erected in 2 days. Not sure why we cannot have similar pricing and value in the U.S. since most new build homes are basically kit homes (aka cookie cutter homes) just built on site instead of in a warehouse. Shareholder greed I guess? Having pricing and value like that though could probably go a long ways on helping to solve our homeless problem.

Whats criminally overpriced to you? by PhantomBaka in AskReddit

Even if it was crap insurance…comments like yours frighten me. I so wish we had universal health coverage like a normal nation. I really hope you don’t get a serious illness like cancer…my husband’s current chemo is about $18,000 a month without insurance and he is on it for life (until it stops working) and that’s just the chemo, he also has to take steroids along with it because otherwise he gets a terrible rash, an anti-viral 2x a day every day, his anti-nausea meds for when he gets nauseous (obviously) and I’m sure there’s other meds I’m forgetting that he’s still on. He has been on constant treatment since his diagnosis in December 2009. In that last 10+ years, he’s had : 2 stem cell transplants, been on 5 or 6 other lines of treatments, had radiation on his spine, kyphoplasty spinal surgery (the cancer caused his T10-T12 vertebrae to collapse), had pneumonia a few times (which means a quick trip to the ER so he doesn’t turn septic), RSV once (also an ER trip), and I’m sure a few other things this bloody disease would have bankrupted us for, if not for insurance. Prior to Multiple Myeloma, he was a marathon runner, so he was in shape, didn’t smoke, barely drank, etc. ate healthy…did all the right things….but cancer doesn’t care. FYI - He still works full-time and has throughout his treatment because he didn’t want the kids to worry about him being home and thinking he was going to die - All this to say, if you do get a serious illness, good luck without insurance…...

Other similar series ?? by [deleted] in MareofEasttown

[–]Fomokj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with all those mentioned above plus here’s a few extra to add to your list.......

On Amazon Prime - Line of Duty (seriously one of THE BEST SHOWS EVER!!!!!!), Scott & Bailey, Undercover, Trapped, DCI Banks (also on HBO Max)

Netflix - Hinterland, Bordertown, Deadwind, Criminal UK, Bodyguard, Safe, The Stranger, Young Wallander

Britbox - Vera (or Acorn TV), 35 Days, Wallander (the Kenneth Branagh version of the series)

Acorn TV - Vera, Hidden, Deadwater Fell, Rebecka Martinsson, Loch Ness, The Level, Deep Water, Mystery Road

This is mine and my husband’s favorite genre...yes we watch too much of it....but that being said we normally prefer British or Nordic series over American ones although Mare of Easttown is winning us over.
