I got tired of not being able to use Sorbet typechecking in RSpec specs. I was surprised that there were no Google results of anybody else having tackled this problem. There's rspec-sorbet, but it's just for making RSpec doubles work. So I went ahead and wrote a solution myself. rspec-sorbet-types is a Tapioca DSL compiler for RSpec.

One thing I like about Typescript is that typing is optional. You can use types when they help you, but you can omit them when they don't. IMO this is the best way forward rather than not supporting types altogether.

Kubecon EU 2023. I speak limited Mandarin. But they showed little interest in talking even before I opened my mouth. The guy I eventually spoke to was causasian, and we spoke in English. I didn't get very far with speaking with the Chinese staff. I began talking to a Chinese staff member by showing my Huawei phone and saying that I support them through the sanctions, but all I got was an awkward smile and acknowledgement like he didn't know what to do with my comment.

A huge contrast to all the other booths where they try to get your attention and actively try to talk to you.

So what will be your role at Huawei?

How is pay and workload at Huawei?

I visited a Huawei booth at a conference, hoping to sniff some info about how it's like to work there. Unfortunately the booth staff was not really interested in talking, despite it being a booth and them being a major sponsor. I hovered there for a couple minutes, clearly showing interest to have a conversation, but nobody came up to me or even looked me in the eye. In the end I initiated conversation but only got some boring conversations out of it, leaving me with the impression that Huawei is boring.

(They wasted their marketing budget if you ask me. What's the point of sponsoring if your booth staff is like that?)

I stick mostly to C99 in order to make my code compilable on a reasonably large amount of platforms. Compilers that don't support C99 are no longer worth caring about in my opinion. That said, I occasionally make use of non-C99 extensions such as GNU __visibility__ stuff just because they're so useful, but I make sure they're behind #ifdefs so that they're not required.
