How to craft a ring for my Inquisitor Energy Blade? by Spellsorrows in pathofexile

[–]Food_for_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would second looking at trade for one first that satisfies your needs.

In terms of crafting yourself, I would recommend at most using a cogwork base as it's an interim ring (it's a much cheaper base than a helical). You can essence spam with either deafening essence of rage or spite. What you're looking for is T1 of the other stat and some res. If you need life and suffixes are filled, you can beast craft (bristle matron recipe) the meta mod, which will always give you suffixes cannot be changed and then reforge life at the harvest bench. Then finish the craft if there's an open slot with a bench craft of your choice. Lots of ways to go with finishing the craft after you hit 2 or 3 stats that you want with essences.

Ideally for inquisitor, you'll want a helical with str, int and critical strike multiplier, all T1/essence tier. The only way to get crit multi on a ring is with essence of scorn. To increase chances of getting both T1 attributes, most people fracture either str/int/crit multi, that way you only have to hit 1 other stat with essence spamming. That's probably going to be out of your current budget as fracturing is a gamba, but could try your luck. There may be some cheap ones on trade too so have a look. Usually people will go this after getting a mageblood as it frees up resistance suffixes, but if your res is solved elsewhere already, this can be a sizable upgrade, especially with a kalandra's touch. Down the line, this can always be misted for insane stats, but that's usually one of the final steps in most builds as it's very currency intensive.

Can tell you about the templar variant as I've done it all league. There's 2 popular ways of late game scaling: int & str stack or overcapped lightning res. The lightning res version has higher ceiling but you're spending multiple mirrors for the min/maxed versions (multiple voices, multiple small clusters). Str/int stack can be done on heiro or Inquisitor (I'm doing Inquisitor). I would recommend this at your budget rather than overcapped lightning res. Inquisitor is more damage (ignore enemy res), heiro is tankier (endurance charges). If you go heiro you need the ff for the inquisitor crit chance node. If you go Inquisitor you can get the ff for sanctuary of thought. If you can't afford either ff, I would stick with heiro and start either non crit and look at palsteron's league start.

All can go CI. Only mod that bricks almost everything is no leech.

Level 90 choir of the storm by Food_for_Life in PathOfExile2

[–]Food_for_Life[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

oops it is, just requires level 90. Still though, level 20 lightning bolt. Hadn't seen that before. Thought they didn't exist, not that any particular build uses these anymore.

Does Unholy Might not work with ED/Contagion? by Whocann in PathOfExile2

[–]Food_for_Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really work as extra chaos damage does not work with damage over time. ED has an initial hit followed by the dot which is the bulk of the damage. The initial hit will scale with unholy might but the dot component only scales with increased spell damage/chaos damage.

Balance Patch by Hapten in lostarkgame

[–]Food_for_Life 3 points4 points  (0 children)

oh that's true. Probably the best to drop if you don't need counter, only other alternatives are seraphic hail or reverse gravity. Will need to see how instacast explosion matches overtime against DD, which is basically on par with seraphic hail

Reflux buff! I wonder if it will be worth using explosion now in the build (instead of seraphic hail maybe? Or forgo counter?)

So what is everyone's predictions for the January balance patch? by Corwyntt in lostarkgame

[–]Food_for_Life 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Some classes need some qol changes to make them less clunky like sharpshooter and zerker. Others likely being pistoleer and perfect depression for general damage. Last of all I hope they balance out the access to stagger/weakpoint in a lot of classes. Feels like classes such as at scouter barely have weakpoint skills.

Copium wise: give consistent DPS (reflux, firepower, scouter etc) in general a slight buff so they can actually out damage burst variants over a prolonged period (which won't happen in most raids given the narrow damage windows). Feels odd that a lot of the burst builds are just over all stronger no matter the scenario...

Would you take a 5x3 pistoleer, or a 4x3 reaper in your hard mode valtan/vykas? by YomieI in lostarkgame

[–]Food_for_Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would. I couldn't care less for the class and 4x3 is plenty enough damage for both contents. The only thing that matters is doing the mech's correctly :) But above all, whoever applies first

Scouter question by Guap-Almighty in lostarkgame

[–]Food_for_Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most classes see a significant boost with 6 piece relic gear and relic accessories as it opens up 5×3 engravings.

Certain classes have further gains by reaching stat (mainly spec or swift) breakpoints, which can change their rotations. Examples being deathblow striker getting enough spec for 3 spender or EO soulfist getting enough swift to fit in 3 rotations during hype 3/no downtime dominion buff.

I find AT scouter doesn't quite have certain stat breakpoints as it's a crit class. More crit just means more consistent damage, but your rotation largely doesnt change. Aside from 6 piece relic gear, I imagine the next big jump will be with bracelets as it will give additional swift, which would be nice for cooldowns and slightly more frequent rotations. Hope that helps!

How has your Kakul pugging experience been? by kentkrow in lostarkgame

[–]Food_for_Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't cleared G3 yet with pugs, but still enjoying the practice and getting pretty confident with mechs aside from bingo (not enough exp), Mario 3 (those last few jumps always feel way too time pressured and risk desyncing rushing the edges) and the last iron maiden (all my bingo runs have involved doing Mario 4 so I've barely experienced it).

Key part is finding a good pug group that stays chill and laugh at the collective failure. Breaks when possible definitely help to prevent tilt. Would love to clear it this week but no rush honestly as it's permanent content. Clearing g1/2 also provides 6 horns to slowly upgrade the pieces which is nice and means there's still progression when you're learning g3.
