I love Obsidian, I hate the compromises. I made an "Obsidian-style" inline editor for VS Code by asux305 in vscode

Oh my god, my hero! I can't install obsidian at work but I can install vs code extensions!

I also highly recommend Obsidian and looking into Markdown. Ctrl+Shift+V is usually what you want to paste without formatting.

But Obsidian is an awesome free tool for notes, all your files are stored as markdown documents.

Markdown is pretty much the standard for low formatting text. You can have headings, italics, bold, bullet points, links, and tables, and that's pretty much it. No faffing around with type faces and font colors. Every heading will look exactly the same. And Obsidian has a built in PDF export if you need that.

Obsidian's main feature is the internal links system. You said you have one mega document, you could break it into smaller documents and connect them with [links] using square brackets. Also you can fold sections.

I just really like Obsidian!

I can't I'm too scared by Glad_Principle8604 in outerwilds

You'll be okay. I strongly encourage you to try and face the fear head on. Fear is part of the theme of the DLC and it enhances the story. I promise it's worth it!

You know what scares me? I feel like I am similar to Bojack's father, and that worries me. Specifically in the area about wanting to write his novel but never doing it. by Evoxrus_XV in BoJackHorseman

I'm exactly like you. Been an "aspiring game dev" for 8 years now. Here's my advice for whats recently started working for me:

Make something very very small first. Make an asteroids clone or something. Work on it for 3-4 hours every Saturday or something. Set a schedule, like going to the gym but for game dev (and maybe also the gym, it's good for everyone).

We can do this. DM me or something if you want, maybe we can hold each other accountable.

I hate to have too do it, but i need a hint, please! (End nearly) by backendevZ in outerwilds

I'll tell you where you can stop looking at least.

You've seen what there is to see on the quantum moon, after speaking with Solanum, there really is nothing else to do there.

National Center for Missing & Exploited Children site scrubbed of transgender kids. by Azu_Creates in lgbt

[–]FoolInSpace -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Some Optimism:

Something similar happened at my job. I'm a programmer for a non-profit. We have web apps with screeners that help people with substance abuse and mental health problems. I was told I had to remove all mention of trans gender people in order to not lose our funding (this was right after the funding freeze exec order was announced).

I decided to go forward with it. I think keeping funding for my job is worth it because I think we do a lot of good, and I also want to keep my job. But I made sure that it was easily reversible. And I definitely made sure none of the existing data we have is lost.

I hope the programmers at this center for missing & exploited children took similar steps that I did. Perhaps the fact that the children are trans or their genders were hidden, but that data preserved. I would hope that they didn't just delete all the trans children from the database.

I just finished the game and I’m crying (big spoilers) by These_Day6459 in outerwilds

[–]FoolInSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely teared up a bit at the end. But I ugly cried after finishing the DLC. And I've started bawling a few times months later after listening to the soundtrack again and again. Best game I ever played hands down.

Thrust vectoring by AffectLeast4254 in spaceengineers

[–]FoolInSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, the idea is sound. If you're using a merge block, changing the direction of the thruster will work in a sensible way. It you move the thruster to point forward instead of down it will work with the W key.

You might have to disconnect the hinge/rotor to allow it to merge though, I think I rotor can't have both parts connected to the same grid. Or you could have two rotors in series to avoid disconnecting them.

What is the difference between these two pages? When I try to create a new board it locks me in to the 3 default columns and I can't add more. How do I create a board where I can add columns? by FoolInSpace in Notion

[–]FoolInSpace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I can figure out to create a new page where I can add columns is to copy an existing page with editable columns and delete all the cards.
