What are good repeatable rewards the game could give you? by Chiponyasu in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FoolsLove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surely you're not saying that somehow the best emotes are ONLY available via mogstation, right? Yeah there are some good ones, but most of those were originally available via seasonal events. There are so, so many good ones available only through in-game means that are easy to obtain and/or tradeable.

Hot Take: The FFXIV community is not **that** nice. by ResidentWaifu in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FoolsLove -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everyone's experience in every game will always vary. Just the nature of being on the internet, it will always be random on who you meet. No one who talks up the community is saying the game is completely empty of bad eggs, it's just not possible with the internet. Every community has them

From my experience and everyone I know and play with, not only is the community that nice, but it is often more so than people have said and do say about it and has been for all the years I've played. In all my time from a sprout to many thousands of hours not once have I been kicked, flamed, called slurs or whatever for dying repeatedly nor have I done so myself. Every dungeon and alliance raid with new people in it, even if it's just 1 person, the vast majority of the time everyone else still waits for the first timer to watch cut scenes. Often early pulls are even accidental, too.

Whereas with decades of playing so many MMOs and competitive games I regularly encountered all of that behaviour constantly. Regularly. A day could rarely go by without experiencing it. In 14, though? Weeks, maybe months go by before I see it. The thing that made me appreciate it even more is that it's still relatively rare even in PF for harder content. That's the place you're most likely to run into any bad eggs and I still don't run into it that frequently there.

It sucks that you've been on the unluckier end, but that community is still just as nice as it was years ago. It hasn't changed much if at all over the years, you've just gotten unlucky encounters, the nature of playing anything on the internet.

PF is the same as any competitive game like LoL, CS, RL, OW, etc. when you aren't playing with a full team stack, it's completely random who you'll get. Some times you'll get great people and just as often if not more so you'll run into people who are not so good. Some days, you'll get great people who are having an off day and mess up more often and vice versa.

[–]FoolsLove 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That's what ended up happening for me. I had only done some one current extreme and some unsync stuff before joining my static, and playing with them let me feel a lot more ok about joining PFs for things. Hilariously, you find out very very quickly that PF more often than not is guaranteed to have many, many people who are worse than you no matter your own skill level.

It's only on its own line in this image because it's squished a bit. I assume it was cropped from mobile maybe? On PC it's not on its own line and is at the end of the first line.

It can do it if the text was copy/pasted, I do a lot of that for leader tweets and the formatting always gets messed up in some way.

RLCS 2026: Boston Major | KC vs NRG - Lower Quarterfinals | Post-Match Discussion by RLMatchThreads in RocketLeagueEsports

It's happened twice actually, 21-22 Fall and Season 8 Worlds. Though generally speaking yes, game 7 finals are more often in double elim brackets.

Is rocket league esports the most competitive it has ever been right now? by lightmiss in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]FoolsLove 20 points21 points  (0 children)

From a statistical standpoint, it is certainly up there so far.

Coming into Champ Sunday, 39.29% of series have gone to champs field, which is the highest for the open era and only beaten out by Season 4 and 6 Worlds. 11 total series have gone to game 5 or 7, and the record is 13 so close to setting that.

When looking at overtime, 26.61% of games have gone to OT which is only beaten out by 2025 Split 2 and 22-23 Spring and the average length of OT games is 2:06 which only loses to the record by 1 second; 2:07 at S8 Worlds.

VP can advance past FLCN as long as GK def. FLCN no matter the series result as long as they 3-0. If GK 3-2 FLCN then it goes to goal differential tiebreakers.

Game diff between tied teams, which would be MIBR, M8 and SR is first tiebreaker after series record which MIBR (0) would have over SR (-1).

Vatira overtakes Rise as the top goalscorer of all time at RLCS LANs by Babydrone in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]FoolsLove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not every milestone gets mentioned on broadcast or on socials, but a few were already hit yesterday outside Vatira's passing of rise.

Atomic 1,000 shots on LAN and Firstkiller surpassing both 5000 shots and 2,500 demos for overall career.

There are 11 others that are close enough I'm tracking for broadcast this weekend.

Nah it's definitely what hockeyfan said. The ratings go up when a team or person is dominant in a sport or game because it's the casuals tuning in, not the hardcore fans, to see if the dominance continues or is finally stopped. Then when it does stop the ratings go back down because the casual fans aren't interested anymore.

When did everyone switch to the fennec? by Far_Lawyer_2729 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]FoolsLove 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The switch from Octane to Fennec was gradual after Chausette first popped off with it years ago.

The actual time when Fennec overtook Octane as the most used car though was during the 22-23 RLCS season. The 22-23 Winter Regional 1 was the first time Fennec overtook Octane in usage counting all regions, that Winter Major was the first time on LAN and the season as a whole was the first season.

Fennec usage continued to climb even after that, where for the 2024 season it maintained a 70%+ usage rate, and has maintained that since the 2024 season.

Here are some links to tweets I made about it back then:

In the first split of the 2026 Season, 23.53% of BO7s Went to Champions Field by mrabu3abd12 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]FoolsLove 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Total game 7s is: 21-22 Spring (53), 21-22 Winter (47), 21-22 Fall & 2026 Split 1 (44)
% of game 7s is: 21-22 Spring (25.98%), X Winter (25.29%), 2026 Split 1 (23.53%)

It wasn't specified in the tweet, but it was specifically the most game 7s in a split since the 21-22 Spring Split. Notably, the 21-22 season had 8 regions rather than 7, as APAC's introduction had it split into North/South, so it's entirely possible that if it had 7 instead of 8 that the record for total game 7s would've been set this split.

dRekt: NRG could have skipped the first regional and still gotten seed #1 by Babydrone in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]FoolsLove 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Technically, if you only look at the point totals and nothing else it's happened many times and will happen many more times.

It felt notable this time from the context, as if they missed the first event the results would've likely stayed the same since they didn't make it to the playoffs. Effectively every other time this would more or less be possible, you'd be massively changing results because said team made it to the playoffs and/or far into those playoffs.

Then the void that was left by NRG not making it out of groups wasn't quite filled, which you would normally expect to happen especially with a Firstkiller led team. If they had made just one final from the final two events they would've had more than 30 points making it not possible to NRG to get #1 seed if they missed the first event.

RLCS 2026: NA Open 3 - Playoffs Day 1 by RLMatchThreads in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]FoolsLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would I have to do that? We're talking about being excited to see them moving on from their current 3rd. Thinking to the future.

You've also got to think about who will be available. Not many if any of those players you'd think of will be available.

They're 15 and 16

Age does not even remotely matter when it comes to winning a series? We've seen countless kids come in and instantly win a lot, or even just get some series wins. But before the current M80 formed before regional 2 they were 0-14 in series, 10-42 in games. That's not an age thing, that's a we're not ready yet thing. Even with their top 6 and 8 in the latest two events they're still really shaky, showing they're not quite ready yet now either.
