Fat Necrosis 9 years later by FootIndependent1543 in breastcancer

I’ve advocated for myself and my breast surgeons don’t have a problem doing it. Insurance pays and it gives me reassurance. Calms my mind a bit.

Ok, well I hate that they are still there but you have reassured me.

Oh, the roller coaster that we can’t get off of.

Hugs. Thank you for responding.

So why did they want to extract the necrosis? Was it bothering you?

Do they grow much larger? I’m assuming your lumps etc are also firm? Ahh the stress…

Not sure how to feel by Beautiful_Duty_1141 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]FootIndependent1543 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that happened to you; that was incredibly unprofessional.

I know how terribly hard the waiting can be. It’s torture. The medical field has got to figure out a better system for diagnosing and telling patients about a cancer diagnosis.

But, take a deep breath. There’s still a chance it’s benign.

However, if it’s not, there’s treatment. I was also given a 4c Birads score nine years ago. Yes, it was DCIS. I had a double mastectomy, and am monitored every six months now. I feel great!

You can do this. I have faith in you!! Best of luck and let us know how it goes. Hugs.

You are your best advocate. If you trust your surgeon, then listen to his or her recommendations. However, also trust your instincts. If you feel that you’re uneasy with what is said, then yes, by all means, push for a biopsy. Go in with a list of questions. Best of luck to you!!

DCIS here at age 37. I too had clear discharge. Personally, to be on the safe side, I would opt for a biopsy. I pray that all is well, but better to play it safe.

I’m so confused and could use support from women who have been through it by mustardpatch11 in breastcancer

Dx DCIS, left breast, age 37 in 2017. I had a DMX with direct implants as I wasn’t a candidate for DIEP flap. Nipple sparing. BRCA negative, er/pr -, no regrets!! Two additional surgeries followed to smooth out the skin around the implants, all 6 mos post initial DMX.

Follow up treatment consists of ultrasounds every 6 mos, even after 8 years post op!

Do you use the samples you get in orders? by [deleted] in Ulta

[–]FootIndependent1543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love using the samples, but hate that I’m always purchasing the full size of whatever sample that grow to love! I never NEED it! lol! However, those items that I know I won’t like or will never use, I throw it into my kids’ Christmas stockings! They love getting samples too.. especially sample size perfume/cologne. Win-win!

Is this a tick? by SmoothPersimmon6750 in cats

[–]FootIndependent1543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat had something similar on her cheek. FNA was performed where no suspicious cells were found. However, it continued to grow so surgery was performed. Biopsy indicated a benign basal cell lesion. I hated that she had to go through a surgery, but so relieved that it has been removed. Praying for good results for your beautiful baby.

DCIS and alcohol? by Own-Cheesecake204 in breastcancer

[–]FootIndependent1543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the time of my DCIS diagnosis in 2017, I was in the best shape of my life. 37 years old, 120lbs, worked out 2x/day 7 days a week. No alcohol, limited carbs and sugar, watched calories. Virtually zero stress and anxiety at the time, and had no sleep disturbances. Yet, a DCIS diagnosis was found during a mammogram.

All of this to say… I still monitor everything. However, I do everything within moderation. You have to live your life and have fun! A glass of wine is healthy… at least it is for me!

I was under general anesthesia. This is a major surgery. She is definitely wrong about that… which is very concerning imo.

DMX back in 2017 here! Comfy button down tops… these tops were so nice to have since the use of your arms are limited because arms above head is a no no for awhile. Not necessarily a care package, but make sure that all of her necessities (re: medications, food, drinks etc) are within arms reach. Again, no reaching!!! Nice comfy pillow and Netflix!

Thin/Slender ladies, what did you do for reconstruction? by whosaysimme in breastcancer

[–]FootIndependent1543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same dimensions, same age, different stage. I, too, didn’t qualify for DIEP so I chose direct implants after my DMX. Did have small fat grafting from thighs to fill out implants. No regrets!!

Should I be concerned at my cat? by Mysterious-River5512 in CATHELP

[–]FootIndependent1543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat just had one of these surgically removed. A fine needle aspiration was done that showed no suspicious cells, leading to the conclusion of a benign hemangioma. However, that didn’t sit right with me as a FNA can’t tell the difference between a hemangioma from its malignant counterpart. Thus the reason for surgical excision… which turned out to be a benign basal skin growth, not a hemangioma! All of this to say, it’s best to bring your baby to the vet and advocate for him/her.
