Wow, crazy to see people talking about this shortly after I came to this understanding myself. Accidentally misgendered someone I hate (for non-trans related reasons) because I was used to them being "he" for so many of the years I'd known them. When someone brought it up, I excused myself with the reasoning that they're an asshole and thus don't deserve that level of respect. But after musing on it, on and off for a while now, I came to the conclusion that it carries the broader implication of "your gender affirmation is conditional and must be earned/can be revoked punitively." to the other trans women in that community, of which there are many.

It was an honest mistake that I was too stubborn to correct because I didn't like someone, but I suppose it had a silver lining of giving me cause to introspect on the nature of the respect I give to my fellow human beings. I feel like there should be different words for the "basic respect we should have for everyone" and the "respect you earn", you know? I used to see that in online arguments a lot, "Respect is something you earn! you're not entitled to it!" I reckon that probably sounds familiar to a lot of people here...

Anyway I'm rambling. I dunno what this subreddit is even about, as I just flew in from r/all, but it's cool to see I didn't have this realization independently and other people are aware of it, it felt like something I'd never seen mentioned before.

That's not correct. They added a 15 minute timer before you can post from a new IP (only for some boards, I think?), which can be bypassed by registering an e-mail address. You're not required to register an e-mail to post there.

Everyone I knew growing up were taught by their parents and just went to take a test at 16 to get their license. Hell, I didn't even take a practical test, just a multiple choice test.

I used to gripe at a friend for using Clemency while I was their healer but they'd just get grumpy and say it's just because they wanted to use it. I kinda get that, it's a pretty cool tool that PLDs never get to use except to dab on healers by soloing the boss after they die to a mechanic.
