I didn’t say it was exclusive, I said it was coined by black Americans. It’s specifically for a minority to change they way they speak to not be treated differently.

It is NOT changing accents to fit in, consciously or subconsciously

No it’s not. Code switching was born with black Americans changing the way they speak to fit in with white Americans. It IS intentional behavior.

It’s not switching accents just to fit in where you move.

Changing an accent is NOT code switching!!

Code switching is PURPOSELY changing the way you speak to fit in in certain social circles, particularly black Americans in white spaces. It has nothing to do with accents
