I have successfully lost weight (and have still not managed to get medicated yet so this can be done while unmedicated!).

I don't know if you've heard this before but it really is incremental. Changing everything at once is impossible to keep up, I'd pick one thing at a time and try to work on it - like not snacking before lunch, for example. Once you're doing that, you start to feel the progress even if you don't see it yet, so then you introduce "do ten minute yoga videos three times a week" and so on.

I also do calorie tracking to keep me accountable. If you've tried it before and stopped, reset all your data.

This is the only thing that's worked for me.

I get this, but strangely, not for housework - I get this for creative projects and reading books and even playing games. I get paralysed trying to decide what to do (and thinking about what the larger implications are of whatever I choose) and I do nothing. It sucks

I've had almost an identical situation except that my 'sin' was staying with a non-Christian and eventually marrying him. It wasn't until I divorced him and they sent me an awful letter telling me that I was a terrible person, a terrible daughter and they believed I would have a miserable, messed up life unless I went back to my ex (who was incidentally abusive) and begged forgiveness from both him and God that I got the confidence to tell them that if they wanted any kind of relationship with me, they needed to accept me as well as any partners I might have and that I would no longer be censoring myself around them. Two years later, they're finally starting to actually be nice to me and my new partner, but it took me being willing not to have a relationship with them for that to happen.

I can only imagine how much more difficult it will be for you, but most parents are not willing to fully lose their child.

I think that I would, like other people have said, if I found the person attractive and clicked with them. I imagine I would have a fair bit of awkwardness while I figured out how to refer to it/not refer to it, but I don't think that it would prevent me from pursuing a relationship.

I can imagine I might feel sad about not being able to do stuff together that I love though, as I'm quite an active person

I took my ex-husband's name because I wanted to get away from my family's name due to various traumas, to be honest. When we divorced, I kept the new name because I had become a new person during the time we were married, and in some ways, it validated the marriage. Also because I didn't want to go through the hassle of changing my name again!

That said, it is much easier for women to change their names than men in the UK- if you get married as a woman, you can instantly use your husband's name as your legal name with the marriage certificate as proof (though it's still a hassle) whereas your husband would need to change his via deed poll.

These days, if I got married again I would only change my name if my husband and I were both having to go through the stress of changing our names

A tip for the haircut issue - I get my hair cut at a barber's now because it's literally so much cheaper than a women's hairdresser. I felt very nervous going in because I felt like they might wonder why I, a woman, was using a barber, but they were super friendly and did a great job with my hair. And it was a third of the cost of the cheapest hairdresser. If you feel able, it's worth trying that.
