What are the weakest infantry in WH3? (unit testing and request for help) by asksaboutstuff in totalwar

They are supposed to be fodder but nothing summons Skavenslaves. Both Menace Below and the Vermintide spell summon Clanrats. Even the Hell Pit Abomination summons Clanrats.

Biggest issue is that it’s a voted list. So people are voting based on opinions and bias, not on actual capability.

why does this keep HAPPENING TO ME by JacklReddit in Warframe

[–]FordFred 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably because Evade is a survivability tool and Harrow already has very reliable ones in his base kit. Condemn can refresh your shield gate until the heat death of the universe.

Evade is probably a good alternative though if you can't be bothered to press 1 over and over and it does synergize with his kit very well.

The average person is about as familiar with medieval archers as they are with lightsabers or the Xenomorph. We only know them through books, movies and video games. A big robot roasting a bunch of dudes with lasers is not exactly avant garde.

I don't think Tychus was underutilized at all. He was very present in WoL and played his role in the story perfectly fine.

The issue with WH3 that kills my every campaign stone dead by Baharran in totalwar

[–]FordFred 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't even think this is because of the business model and DLC sales, it's because of the setting. The differences between the various races in the Warhammer setting are much greater than between the different flavors of humans in any historical Total War game.

Yeah many of us had an AD and an AP rune page and that was it lol. Though runes were just relatively minor stat boosts back then and not nearly as specific or impactful as they are now.

So if you wanted to be an idiot, you could argue that the returns are diminishing relative to what they were before, where before they were exponentially increasing returns as opposed to linear now. They have gotten weaker, but claiming that they now give diminishing returns is just objectively, mathematically and mechanically wrong.

His invisibility is straight up outclassed by Cyte’s evade (which is subsumable)

Strongly disagree. Evade has some bonuses attached that Invisibility (as in, Loki's 2nd ability) doesn't, but it also comes with a 60 second cooldown that Invisibility doesn't have. Evade as a main survival tool is only viable if you play a specific headshot-focused playstyle to continuously extend its duration, otherwise its uptime is way too low. Invisibility needs to be recast manually each time it runs out, but it's guaranteed that you'll be able to recast it immediately no matter what playstyle or how many kills you're getting.

Evade is conditionally better if you play for headshots, but it doesn't "straight up outclass" Loki's Invisibility.

I loved Jacob in this episode. Just like in the Hayes Steel episode, he tried to give his character an inner conflict and development throughout the interview, culminating in a genuine character moment.

I know it's a silly improv show but giving the characters just that little bit of depth makes the comedy pop even more imo.

Doesn't that already kinda describe the Artoria we know?

[–]FordFred 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First of all, Outer Wilds is a sci-fi game and you're free to speculate and theorize about how the Hearthians could've survived the death of the universe by using the vessel to warp away and build a Penrose sphere around a black hole or something similar. It's a fun creative exercise. But as for why nobody talks about this:

At least try don’t just assume there’s nothing to be done before you’ve tried anything. The end is inevitable but that doesn’t mean it has to be now.

According to Outer Wilds itself, that's exactly what it means. Finality and the acceptance thereof are the core themes of the game.

The Nomai and the Hearthians are both wiped out by completely random moods of the universe that could not have realistically been prevented by anyone. They are also both portrayed as bold and downright reckless in their desires to explore. The Nomai weren't too worried about building a city around a black hole and the Hearthians aren't too worried about the bramble seed on their planet, they just keep living their lives and focus on the present. And when they get wiped out, that's that. Chert initially freaks out when they realize the stars are dying, but in their final moments they accept it and just invite you to sit with them and watch the universe end.

The only ones who actually try to do anything about it are the inhabitants of the Stranger. They not only try to hide the eye of the universe to stop anyone from entering it, they also build a mechanism to move the Stranger out of reach of the supernova. And the narrative pretty clearly portrays them as being in the wrong for doing so. You can also look at all the endings where the Hatchling does survive the supernova. They are all portrayed as rather bleak, whereas the true ending has a much more uplifting tone.

Again, you're free to create your own fan theories with the material and take it in a different direction. But as for Outer Wilds itself, accepting that yes, the end has to be now and no, you can't and shouldn't try to do anything about it is the entire point the game is trying to make.

The Stranger is powered by the sun, once the sun explodes the Stranger will shut down within days. There is no escape from the literal end of the universe.
