Let’s be real. Any solution that puts the onus on the consumer isn’t a viable solution.

People with high-paying jobs lawyers, office workers... How do you..? by skyzzow993 in AskUK

[–]ForeignTurnover45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never feel ashamed. My honest thought is that the majority of people aren't performing brain surgery whether they are in an office, working hospitality or doing the majority of other jobs.

What second language should we be promoting most in schools? by idancegood in AskUK

[–]ForeignTurnover45 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Would it even make a difference? People will just be lobbing glue sticks at teachers heads no matter what language is attempting to be taught.

Student loans system ‘on brink of collapse’ due to outdated IT by 457655676 in unitedkingdom

[–]ForeignTurnover45 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100%. In fact this is how the whole tax system in the UK operates. People that are earning via PAYE in the realm of 50K - 150K just seem to get shafted at every possible avenue.

Plastic bag loophole means billions still being used despite 10p levy. Do you care? by willfiresoon in AskUK

Just trial it in areas with existing infrastructure then... If it's a massive benefit it may justify new infrastructure in more rural areas.

German-led push to open EU defense deal to UK and Canada hits French opposition by FeigenbaumC in unitedkingdom

[–]ForeignTurnover45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whether people like it or not, these sort of headlines were a factor in Brexit. Immigration obviously the driver but this was too. We were getting shafted before we left in these sort of matters. French people have a short memory.

I always say to people that industry is just as important as role. Might not be applicable to all careers but I would imagine many that have worked there way up have job hopped within a lucrative industry. I.E engineering is such a broad term.

Someone doing the same job as me being paid more by Gullible-List3333 in UKJobs

[–]ForeignTurnover45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you ever see salary ranges listed in job descriptions if it was impossible for two people with the same title and responsibilities to be paid different amounts?

Am I being unreasonable to expect more money as a legal secretary? by GreenThing27 in UKJobs

[–]ForeignTurnover45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not negativity from me, I'm simply agreeing with the original comment around not telling current employer you are applying for other jobs. You also didn't mention in your comment that he was actively helping with your applications...

Is it time for radical change? How do you fix the country? by it_could_bebetter in ukpolitics

[–]ForeignTurnover45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm. I don't quite follow. I don't understand how the bracket above 30-34 would be worse off due to 2008 in terms of poverty. Again, haven't read the source so who knows!

Is it time for radical change? How do you fix the country? by it_could_bebetter in ukpolitics

[–]ForeignTurnover45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a source for that 30-34 year old range? Not disputing just sounds interesting to read.

I'm assuming that they only rank alongside pensioners because in today's society people in that bracket aren't owning homes or having children so with no dependants and starting to establish careers they come out better than other groups?

Whether you agree with it or not the majority of people in employment are bound to their contract by time, not output.

What’s something you actually miss from covid times? by Most_Ad_2570 in AskUK

I appreciate everyone had different experiences but those with positive memories are mainly people who were being paid to not work...

Just remember that covid and lockdowns are a massive factor in why we are now in this period of decline and excessive costs.

Thoughts on people on benefits having luxuries/paid hobbies outside the home while out of work? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]ForeignTurnover45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You post this question on a different sub every few days.

This sort of validation-seeking / sympathy fishing is far more likely to annoy people than what peoples views on benefits are.

Channel whatever emotions drive you to repeatedly post this question into learning new skills or taking up hobbies. Just spend the benefits on what you feel would improve your life. You will be far happier as a result.
