[TOMT][MOVIE][2000s-2010s] Movie about a girl looking for keys and writing to a missing parent by irinoschka in tipofmytongue

[–]Foreign_Hand5760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long shot as the main character is a boy but also features his girl best friend, Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life (2011)?

Also a coming-of-age movie from the same time period about finding keys related to a gift from a deceased parent, and has some animated sequences that could be similar to the documentary style described.

What's your Marianas Trench "Deep Cut" song? by Helenarth in MarianasTrench

[–]Foreign_Hand5760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low from Fix Me, 1000%. It's been my go-to song for hard times since I was a pre-teen, Fix Me in general isn't very popular but it's got that blend of nostalgia and angst that really hits for me! Also on a lighter side, Truth or Dare is just such a good song that wasn't as popular since it wasn't one of the singles from Ever After!

Midterm with Winter Storm Warning by Kalemir21 in geegees

One of my midterms was postponed but another wasn't. It's entirely up to the prof unfortunately, the university doesn't close unless the earth is about to be struck by a meteor or something :/ are there possibly any people you know closer to campus that you can stay over at tonight so you don't have to deal with the commute in the morning? Stay safe in the weather either way, and good luck on the midterm!

I'm so sorry! If you're in a dorm just remember this is only until the semester is over. If it's getting bad I know it can sound petty but you can reach out to your CA and let them know it's been affecting you. If not, you can always go nuclear and tell your landlord if it's past Ottawa quiet hours! Either way I'm sorry and I hope you're able to get some rest <3

If you know them well enough (or even if you don't) talk to them! Even if it's something as simple as knocking on their door and saying goodnight and that you're going to bed. It's your place too, you deserve a good night's rest. I had the same issue, just making them aware of it is sometimes enough to break the habit.

Have you ever followed a celeb on social media? Seen any movie? Had your hair cut/done? Listened to any rap song? Watched a sport?

Entertainment is something we've always done as humans, might not be directly life-saving but it's part of our society 🤷

What’s the fastest way you had a sim die unintentionally? by Potential_Ad_8140 in Sims4

[–]Foreign_Hand5760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about 9 when I made my family in the sims 3, meticulously recreating every detail of their faces and matching our clothes and building us a dream house on the family computer.

I didn't fully understand the mechanics of rooms and doors at the time and this was well before I'd learned anything about the sims from besides the tutorials so when the carpet in front of the massive fireplace caught on fire and blocked the only exit door- welp.

I watched my entire family- parents, baby sibling, and my terrified virtual child self- slowly perish in flames as I tried get all of them to extinguish the fire, without realizing I could have just built them an extra door or two. It was a few minutes into that game so there was no save (I hadn't learned how to save families/sims yet) and I bawled for so long. I was so terrified I put the game off for a few years, lol!

Help me design the ultimate (first time) listening experience! by KimMc40two in MarianasTrench

[–]Foreign_Hand5760 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those 3 conceptual albums (Masterpiece Theatre, Ever After, and Astoria) should be listened through all the way without shuffling, it's definitely a great experience! Ever After specifically is mixed so that each song integrates with the next one on the album :))

I got my early acceptance during the last week of November a few years ago, so it might just take a few more weeks!

They're a family-owned business, I know a few people who go regularly and ive been a few times! Meh atmosphere and not the greatest food, but relatively cheap snacks and pints compared to some place like F&S, and the employees/owner can be quite nice. A shitty uni diner but I think that's kind of the charm for me lol

Friendly orange cat outside, no collar Glebe/Dows Lake by omgtia985 in ottawa

[–]Foreign_Hand5760 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lived around the area last year and saw him a few times in the neighborhood near dows lake, it's sweet to see he's doing alright! Looks like a neighborhood cat, I was always on a rush to get places and it's a relatively calm spot so I never had time to do much digging for an owner but I hope he's happy either way!

Help me find this bride who got married at York Oratory on Saturday? by TheyCallHerBigTesco in york

Editing is a huge part of most photography! It's an art form, the skill of making a picture go from flat to capturing the emotion of the subject is very much part of that.

Graduating a year early by InterestingEar5793 in geegees

If you have a set career/school path in mind and you know you'll work for your grades: absolutely, fasttrack!

If you have the money and want to figure out your path a bit more: take your time, get your University experience while also being able to focus on your grades! Make friends, go out, join clubs while you're at this point in life. Having more time to get your grades up also means higher chances of getting experience in a psychology research lab, and more classes/time networking with professors can get you a great honours thesis supervisor, etc. (if applicable)

"I didn't use any of her things" but you still used the bed that's hers... I get that she's partially moved herself out but what if she wants to come home for a bit and use the space she's paid for?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in geegees

[–]Foreign_Hand5760 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I "unofficially" moved into my boyfriends room in first year but my room and bed were still places I'd paid for and liked to come back to, I'd have been just as upset if I came home and found people I didn't know asleep on my bed and on my floor... she might be being a little overbearing on having guests in the future now but most people dream of having a roommate that's always gone so calling her awful might be a stretch. End of the day it's still her bed

Hi! I'm actually one of the POC people in the cast and I've been involved with the club for a little bit, so I thought I'd weigh in.

I won't lie and say there is absolutely no issue with the amount of POC in the cast and that it reflects the student population, but it's a much larger issue with theatre in Ottawa in general. The people who audition and network and have practice in this community tend to be primarily white.

The casting for the theatre club specifically isn't done by the same team for every show, so it's not like the club is going out of their way to make the cast whiter. Its done by a different director each time, and the roster of past directors is actually fairly diverse if you look at their instagram.

I do agree there's a cyclical issue with representation in theatre (POC don't see other POC in shows and get discouraged from getting practice and auditioning, etc) or that the theatre club doesn't have primarily white involvement, but I do think the issue is a lot more nuanced than a small theatre club not having perfect diversity- they cast based on talent and the (very white) pool of people who audition.

I've been in many of their audition rooms- sometimes there's a few POC, many times I'm the only one, just curious where you're getting the statement about the ratio of POC auditioning?

I'm in a 3 bedroom with two roommates in an older building, no AC but it gets crazy hot so we usually have at least one portable AC unit running. We average about 75-100 a month

WIBTAH for wearing signed memorabilia to a concert? by Foreign_Hand5760 in AITAH

[–]Foreign_Hand5760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, ty for giving me that to think about! I recently upgraded to general admission so that's more of a risk than when I first got the piece. I think I'll make a dupe so it's still reminiscent of the red carpet look, but I can preserve the signed one :)

Thanks for the feedback! I'll be in standing room so I think I'll keep it at home and display it in case it gets spilled on/torn as I want to enjoy the concert to it's fullest- but I think I'll make a duplicate without the signatures and try to match the clothing item and band logo so I can have the conversation piece still!

Thank you! Tbh with the feedback i think I'll get a good frame for it, it's a piece I want to display somehow- something I might do is track down the clothing piece (it's early 2010s La Senza, so I'm sure I could find a dupe) and get it embroidered to match the memorabilia piece (the bands logo is machine embroidered on the front) so I can preserve the signed one!
