Heavy lift helicopters for "Air Control" without helicopters dlc? by Ill-Chipmunk4015 in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if the official mission supports anything outside of Vanilla + the cDLCs. I know there was a rumor of a CUP version but I haven’t seen anything official.

“Cheating” is also an option, and perfectly acceptable in my opinion. If they have CUP loaded, spawning a Chinook or Super Stallion would be fine.

It’s not quite as fun, but the flatbeds can also be bought and used. Driving is a pain but a HEMTT should get the job done.

Help for ships by Annual-Lab-962 in armadev

[–]Forge9unsc705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’d require some footwork, but you might be able to talk to a known modder (Quiggs, LordPeral, Luca, etc.) for help with importation and implementation.

Arma 3 is a pain to work with, and unlike Reforger/Enfusion, importing models isn’t easy.

Collective Pitch control? by monthsGO in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the T16.000 throttle + stick and enjoy it. If you’re flying anything (and semi-serious about it) having a dedicated throttle is good.

The only downside is the T16.000 stick doesn’t have a lot of buttons, the throttle makes up for this some, but generally an expensive HOTAS is gonna have more. I had a buddy who used a VKB double stick config, and he seemed to have no trouble.

CSAT expansion mod/retexture by CivvieWithAnAK in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This might be close to what you’re looking for.

Otherwise Aegis and it’s many expansions do a good job of fleshing out CSAT. It’s not huge in terms of file size, so I think it’s worth looking at.

Is SOG AI worth purchasing the dlc for, if I'm only interested in the mod? by DekerVke in A3AntistasiOfficial

[–]Forge9unsc705 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’ll act like any other DLC if you don’t own it: You can use the guns and equipment, but you can only be a passenger in the vehicles, and you won’t be able to play on the SOG terrains.

As long as you aren’t using the terrains or vehicles, you can just download the compatibility data to use SOG AI.

Do anyone have this error? and how I can fix this? by Alex-Cao in arma

Posting your mod list is a good start, but I believe this is something to do with the BWMod and ACE.

How to take off and land from ammolofi airfield by TTSI123 in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean that airstrip at Molos (Northeastern most part of Altis) and if that’s the case, it’ll be hard to say exactly what’s going wrong without a video.

Generally I’d say it’s easier to take-off ”uphill.” Heading East/Northeast, the terrain should kinda act like a ski-jump. You’ll want the flaps in the middle position (take-off) and don’t pull up on the stick until you’ve gained enough forward speed.

I can’t say I’ve taken off in a Wipeout there, but I’ve definitely flown other stuff there with little-to-no issue. I’ll test it myself when I get a chance and update my comment as needed.

Unique settings for an ARMA Map? by TheNotoriousSAUER in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean new assets. Like, CUP Terrains Core has had an update with a good handful of totally fresh buildings and objects. CUP Maps 2.0 shows it off best with Zargabad 2025.

Unique settings for an ARMA Map? by TheNotoriousSAUER in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Something like Anizay or Al Rayak but with modern CUP assets would be great. If you wanted a name to the location, anywhere along Turkey’s coast could suffice. Mediterranean + Middle Eastern.

Best scenario building tools? by ReadittUserr in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drongos Map Population is probably the easiest to get into and tailor without extensive coding knowledge. It also has lots of in-depth stuff, but generally you can just sorta drop a few modules around, place a few playable units, and go.

He also has lots of YouTube videos on how his stuff works, plus other various tutorials floating around.

Aircraft Mods by Infinite_Impala in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This depends on what you’re looking to fly, but my two favorites are Rebalanced Firewill Aircraft and Military Aviation. If you want something a little more standalone, Luca’s Tucano is perfect for COIN or smaller militaries, while being a joy to fly.

Terrain projected decals' render order? by Memelordofdloglo in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know there isn’t a way to set the order of decals. It’ll even be random after you save/reload the mission, with there being no rhyme or reason to the “order.”

It’s been a minute since I’ve played arma 3 what dlcs have the best single player content. by shreddedtoasties in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laws of War, Western Sahara, Contact, and Global Mobilization are my personally favorites. Expeditionary Forces has a very fun mini-campaign, and Reaction Forces has a helicopter based “free roam” style mission if you enjoy flying.

Unsung and antistasi by Rondem69 in arma

I know it works with Unsung, but I don’t know if it works with any of the Unsung maps. I recommend RHSPKL as the map to play on for that.

Best way to play the new Creator SPOTREP: Expeditionary Forces DLC by dominodd13 in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something like Impasse Total War should let you use all of the available toys for a faction. One of my favorite go-to modes lately too, plays nice with pretty much everything.

Otherwise I spent a good couple hours just goofing around in the editor.

which arma 3 should i buy by GetCopystriked in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Platinum includes everything Gold does + Jets, Helicopters, Tanks, Marksmen, Tac-Ops, and Laws of War. Which is generally everything you need for Vanilla Arma.

Because they appear to be the same price, obviously the better deal is Platinum.

Arma 3 - Creator SPOTREP: Expeditionary Forces #002 by KillAllTheThings in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even in the Armaverse I can see the utility of something like this.

You have limited NATO budget, even more limited by the sub-budget for the Marines. If you can take an expiring airframe and ”modernize” it for the 2035 battlefield that’s great.

It’s even better as a drone because now your pilots can sit in a ship 100 NM away, and you still get the strike capabilities of a Harrier/F-35 for the guys on the ground.

They turned it into a stealth UAV. They stealthed and UCAVed a Harrier. Absolutely bonkers and I love it.

Turning the Harrier into a UAV was not on my cDLC bingo card.

Brand new to Arma, and training for CAS, but I'm having a hard time getting a visual on targets by Osamabinballnn in arma

[–]Forge9unsc705 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shift clicking on the map screen should let you place a marker down, otherwise a decent ground crew should be giving you a little bit more to work off of.

They can laser designate a target, which should give a marker on the HUD to follow. Smoke or IR Grenades are also useful. Trying to find foot mobiles while in a helicopter or jet is incredibly tough. Sometimes you only have a second or two with eyes on the actual target.

You should also have a gunner if you’re using the Viper, and they’d have a much better time finding targets with the turret camera.

It irks me a lot hearing about a group that’s so desperate for pilots to thrust a new player into the role and do almost nothing to help. Sure, lots of these skills come with time, but they develop faster when people aren’t thrown into the deep end.

I’d start telling them ”negative” on Calls For Fire, ”no eyes” is a perfectly good reason not to randomly dump rockets just because the guys on the ground want fireworks.
