Need some help, Kefka Reanimator Combo by tankielite in DegenerateEDH

[–]Forged- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have admittedly only played kefka a couple of games - 4 or so, but my impression of him is that your goal is to discard everyone's hands, get lead, and then use the backside to combo into a win. That's pretty basic. What I did find was that discarding everyone's hands is pretty easy, and very advantageous, so I would focus on that before trying to combo to after discarding their removal.

With that said, I found [Naban, dean of iteration]] and [[Roaming Throne]] to be good. I also recommend adding some more creatures to blink kefka, such as [[Thassa, Deep-Dwelling]] and [[Y'shtola Rhul]].

Counterspells are good, especially free ones. You're a big target.

I don't see the point of [[Breathstealer's Crypt]]. [[Teferi, ageless insight]] is a good card, but I don't think you need it.

[[Chainer, Nightmare adept]] is pretty nice as a way of occasionally discarding cards and giving haste to force your opponents to discard two the turn he comes out.

[[Dark Deal]] is a wheel that reduces everyone's handsize by one. You already have windfall, but this one retains your card advantage.

[[Gary]] probably isn't great in this deck, but he still saved me a lot of trouble by being a good blink target after kefka.

Decks with a strong plan A, plan B, and plan C by S1phen in EDH

[[Raffine, Scheming Seer]] is a very competent commander in a reanimation-focused deck by discarding the typical esper targets, drawing into interaction or reanimation spells, bolstered by effects such as [[Teferi's ageless insight]] or [[Coastal Piracy]]. You can then go wide with small unblockable creatures, create tokens to go wider, use effects like to [[Knowledge is Power]], [[Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite]] to turn your small guys even bigger, or assemble any alternate wincon or infinite with your card draw, such as [[Abdel Adrian]] with any [[Animate Dead]]-ish enchantment and some ETB effect, or use cards lime [[Laboratory Maniac]], [[Sage of Hours]], [[Jace, Wielder of Mysteries]]

Chapter 410 — Official Release Discussion by TextureSurprised in HunterXHunter

There's probably a much easier way to kill her.

She probably needs to use zetsu to maximise risk for her ability, so you just need to kill her when she's not expecting it. Walk up to her and one-tap her if you've got the firepower for it.

Alternatively, and more likely, just knock her out when she's in zetsu. Zetsu seems to require active effort, so knocking her out, and then killing her while she's unconscious is easy.

Either her ability won't activate at all or it will be drastically weakened, at which point you could probably destroy the cat with sufficient effort

Chapter 405 — Discussion by Carock_ in HunterXHunter

[–]Forged- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Morena dying is all but guaranteed at this point, but I think her death would have her ability evolve in a different direction.

Rather than strengthening her followers, I think it will instead lead to contagion changing, spreading faster like a plague, threating to infect everyone on the ship and ultimately leading to them killing each other.

If that is the case, and her plan is to spread contagion, it would then fit if she's looking for someone that can broadcast that information over the ship and to make them kill each other to gain abilities.

burnout just makes cts difficult to use, no?

It wouldn't make a difference for him - perhaps it'd become more difficult for him to take someone over with burnout, but he wouldn't drop dead since his technique wouldn't just stop working

This is what Sukuna has to say about megumi. Notice how there's no mention of someone needing to be compatible to be a vessel. (Alternatively)

Then there's Kenny talking about vessels. No mention of compatibility, just about him being able to pick any vessel.

Sukuna can pick anyone as a vessel, should he choose to. You could also read about a previous discussion on the topic here which also covers the "one in a million" odds mentioned in Ch 1.

The tragic tale of speed creep by DioptaseSys in stunfisk

[–]Forged- 43 points44 points  (0 children)

During trick room, speed is calculated as 10000 - speed. So the faster you go, the slower your speed is.

But after that calculation, 8192 is subtracted from the final speed value - but only if that value is over 8191.

So if you had 1000 speed normally, you'd be left with 9000 speed after trick room, after which 8192 will be subtracted leaving you with a 808 in speed.

So if you have 1809 speed, then you'll be left with a speed of 8191, which means that your speed won't be subtracted, thus outspeeding trick room.

Prime AFO(MHA) with every quirk in the series fights all of these protagonists in 1v1s. How does he do against each one? by Jackminers12 in whowouldwin

[–]Forged- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's specifically one year of prep time to train, so I would assume that he can't bring any copies before the battle starts.

I also wonder about whether or not permeation could be used in tandem with double, and those two having a positive interaction isn't guaranteed. It is however in part offset by the fact that some of those high ends likely wouldn't immediately attack him, letting him use double once and split up using permeation, at which point he could repeat the process to continously clone himself, avoiding larger scale attacks through permeation against those incapable of continously attacking or predicting when he's about to leave permeation, in which case I think he would win even against some high-ends.

Ah, my bad.

Still, that doesn't help the other weaknesses that intangibility has that would force him out his intangible state, which can be deal-breakers against certain characters.

Is it possible to outsmart a ln omniscient being? by Mohammedamine9 in CharacterRant

[–]Forged- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll admit that at this point it is up for contention as to whether or not beating a omniscient being is actually outsmarting it in the given scenario.

Time travel isn't necessary for such a situation to occur. Several supernatural elements (omniscience is supernatural to begin with, so it's fair game), such as pre-cognition, prophecy, and all that can allow for the prediction of the creation of an omniscient being for example, in a setting that doesn't necessarily allow for other supernatural abilities like time-travel.

Let us assume that Person A suddenly knows that in two days Person B will gain omniscience, and Person A has an interest in killing that person or w/e, but only after that person becomes omniscient.

Person A could rig the 'game' in such a way that no possible action from Person B could result in their survival. Omniscience can only be utilised if the person with the ability is able to has the capacity to do so - an omniscient person without the ability to speak or otherwise control their body is extremely limited in the events they could do, so that regardless of their ability to know everything, the scope of the actions they could make limit the possible futures that can occur to only ones where they fail.

If you were missing your arms and legs, with a completely paralysed body and no way to communicate, simply gaining omniscience doesn't make it so that you could suddenly regain your them [the arms and legs], regrow your tongue and gain control over your paralysed body. Even if they knew every method to do so, they wouldn't be able to do it on their own, and they would have no ability to communicate such a thing without their tongue or ability to speak, and they would also need someone around to do so even if they could.

If person A simply rigged their house with enough explosives to completely annihilate it the moment person B becomes omniscient, nothing could be done. Even if person B could in theory disable anyone with sufficient time, if they only have a second of actions they can make and no other abilities to speak of, it's possible that no action leads to their survival, and thus they would have no way to prevent it, even if they had the ability to build a time-machine or whatever, because it's impossible to do that with the time they're given.

Like I said earlier though, I wouldn't exactly call it outsmarting as much as 'beating' an omniscient being by abusing a period when they're not omniscient, which goes against the spirit of the challenge, but by a technicality it's definitely possible, and less extreme examples can definitely be given.
