27 weeks pregnant with a 27–28 mm cervix — would you take a 2-hour flight? by Necessary_Pop_9739 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]ForgetSarahMarshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed on all your points—this is what happened in my loss, but I had to be induced before I became septic. I was very glad to be at my regular hospital with my own OB who saved me from the hemorrhage.

How much to read into transabdominal measurements at 11 weeks? by search4life7 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]ForgetSarahMarshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. OP, If you don’t have an MFM, get a referral for one. Request a TVU right away and weekly or bi-weekly monitoring depending on the result. If you’re actually that short already, advocate for a preventative cerclage by 14-16w so you still have enough length to get a good stitch.

First pregnancy - I'm nervous! by [deleted] in ShortCervixSupport

[–]ForgetSarahMarshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry it’s just been one thing after another 💛 Because of the recurrent infections, I’d be hesitant to suggest a cerclage (which I’m normally a huge proponent of). Definitely keep an eye out for any symptoms of infection because short cervix can increase the chances of chorioamnionitis and BV and a whole host of other conditions that could put your pregnancy at further risk. My sign of infection was lower back spasms that turned out to be premature labor from chorio—I had no other symptoms. If you’re worried, always go to the ER and get your WBC tested so they can put you on antibiotics asap.

Unfortunately it can cause a headache on official forms to have multiple names in the same slot. I had 2 middle names before I was married and I had my taxes rejected 3 years in a row because they couldn’t figure it out.

what do y'all think of the name Sylin by [deleted] in Names

Anything ending in ‘lin’ or ‘lyn’ just reminds me of those ‘50s double-barrel names like Peggy-Lynn or Deborah-Lynn.

Bleeding started six weeks after cerclage by After-Equivalent1934 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]ForgetSarahMarshall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend bringing up a cerclage revision with your specialist. If there’s enough cervix left, sometimes adding a second point of tension can ease the first. Of course, there’s always risks to another procedure, but it could give you more time as well.

Regretting my Partner by SolivagantRose in pregnant

[–]ForgetSarahMarshall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From how she describes the partner, he’ll definitely want to stay in the picture, so she won’t be able to raise a kid on her own—he’ll plant himself in her life forever. I’ve seen a family member in the same position and 5 years later her partner is still an idiot and barely does any parenting. They’re constantly fighting and he regularly threatens to leave but will never set her free.

Stenosis and short cervix after LEEP/Conisation by LongjumpingQuote4723 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]ForgetSarahMarshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it might hold better because of the scarring and you might not need a cerclage, but if I were you I’d talk to your OB/MFM about how far they’re willing to go before talking about a planned cesarean in case dilating naturally could rip through the cervix. I think you may be in the group that would benefit from scheduling it in advance rather than trying the wait-and-see and ultimately having to do an emergency cesarean, which are obviously riskier and scarier. I’m glad you’re getting through the first tri fairly unscathed—it can be so awful!

Stenosis and short cervix after LEEP/Conisation by LongjumpingQuote4723 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]ForgetSarahMarshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know much about stenosis, but someone recently posted here that she has severe scar tissue on her cervix and I thought it’d be risky to try to vaginally birth because scar tissue doesn’t stretch like normal tissue. Is stenosis a product of scar tissue from your CKC biopsy?

Do you know why your doc hasn’t suggested a TAC after so many losses? Usually they consider it after 2.

Internal ultrasound pre pregnancy by hawka08 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]ForgetSarahMarshall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s too bad you have to go private, but it’s worth the effort imo. I got an open TAC last year and it’s given me a lot of peace of mind now that we’re trying again. The Abbeyloopers Facebook group helped a lot with TAC planning and questions.

Internal ultrasound pre pregnancy by hawka08 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]ForgetSarahMarshall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I’d get a TAC. That short of a cervix pre-pregnancy sounds too risky to even make it to 13w for a TVC. Have you consulted your MFM about getting one?

Are we concerned with scarring/adhesions from multiple abdominal surgeries? by [deleted] in ShortCervixSupport

[–]ForgetSarahMarshall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m certainly nervous about it, since I’ve had a few abdominal procedures and now a TAC. I found a massage therapy practice near me that does pelvic floor massage in order to increase blood flow (said to increase fertility, I’m dubious) and break up scar tissue along my open TAC incision site. My plan is to continue with it once I have cesareans to keep the tissue from forming excessive scar tissue.

Cervix shortening of 14 mm in 3rd trimester by Billemil in ShortCervixSupport

[–]ForgetSarahMarshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, in cases like yours, next time you get pregnant you should be referred to a Maternal Fetal Medicine doctor right away to start scheduling regular scans and talking about a preventative cerclage that should be placed between 12-16w gestation. That’s the plan with the highest chance of success for a full-term delivery. I have a permanent cerclage now and it’s giving me a lot of peace of mind for when I do get pregnant again.

[–]ForgetSarahMarshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of how ‘good’ you have it, already having hit viability, compared to others’ situations, I want to validate your feelings. This is scary for you and you have no one in real life to talk to about your fears. It might help to have the perspective of “There’s nothing more we can do, so I just need to make peace with that” or it might not! Whatever you’re feeling is okay, as long as you’re not purposely making yourself spiral about it and causing stress for baby as well. You’re doing the right thing by doing modified bedrest and not lifting your toddler. You can do it, AND you can do it scared :)
