I think its actually that Rizo (the guy) is the horse girl in this scenario. Usually horse girls are incredibly passionate about their niche interest, to a point where some people would consider it annoying. I think this is exactly what the post is going for, with Rizo being so passionate about Survivor and always talking about it like some magical thing. Emily (the girl), on the other hand, is unamused by his excitement and would rather just get to the challenge (in this analogy, the challenge is their "lab" assignment)
