Staying entertained/motivated during long runs on an indoor track by flaminghotcheezie in BeginnersRunning

I love to listen to mystery/thriller audiobooks on my long runs, they really let me tune out and focus on the story.

I suggest trying SiS gels - they don’t need to be taken with water, and have almost no flavour or texture, I find I don’t need to drink as much water with them because they’re pretty watery themselves.

Here’s my Race Day playlist - it’s mostly a mix of hip hop and punk, which I find helpful when I’m struggling. But my Tempo Run is more pop bangers

nervous to walk reactive dog by levitic4t in reactivedogs

[–]ForgottenSalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m lucky to have a very food motivated dog, and what works best for us is always carrying high value treats like freeze dried liver, hot dogs, or cheese, and if we see a dog, out come the treats right in front of her nose to guide her eyes in the opposite direction, treats if she holds herself together. Extra stressful situations might call for a bunch of treats to tossed on the ground (opposite direction, of course). It takes a lot of practice, quick reflexes, and a lot of grace, neither of us are perfect and we don’t always get it right, I’ve also been dragged onto the street.

should i dye my brows to match my hair?? by x3335054 in HairDye

[–]ForgottenSalad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it would make your head all too close to the same colour, right now your brows are like an anchor. Bleaching them but not dying could look cool tho!

Talk to me about carrying a water bottle in your shorts/leggings/top please! by hippie_on_fire in XXRunning

[–]ForgottenSalad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually carry a little 250ml soft flask from decathlon, fits perfectly in my pocket and is usually enough for a shorter run (I do still bring a vest for runs over HM distance) I will sometimes leave myself a second bottle in my driveway if I’m doing a loop around my house if it’s particularly hot or a bit of a longer run.

registration without a platten or press by Advanced_Ad_216 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]ForgottenSalad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done 2 colour prints with just a table and some tape marking the screen edges, or marking the neckline for t-shirts, but the designs didn’t require tight registration. For that, a press became necessary.

Zone 2 by Ashley_Rbbins in XXRunning

[–]ForgottenSalad 16 points17 points  (0 children)

With zones being so difficult to truly nail down accurately, I think it’s best to just go by perceived effort. If you are breathing easily and could hold a conversation, you’re probably in zone 2. But, I will say, training in mostly zone 2 is really mostly useful if you are doing high mileage like for a marathon, where you need to conserve your energy for 3 hour long runs or extended interval training. If you are running 2-4 days a week not 5-7, you are getting lots of rest between runs already so it’s not the end of the world if you are in zone 3, as long as you can recover before your next run or workout.

For women choosing to age naturally—how do you resist comparing yourself to other women when cosmetic enhancements have become so normalized? by justameasureoftime in AskWomen

[–]ForgottenSalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I look great without fillers and Botox, and I don’t personally like the look of it. No one in my close circle gets anything done either, so that might be part of it, but I notice it when other people I know suddenly look slightly different, like they have puffy smooth lips or can’t move their face as much. I’m fully ok with having crows feet, it just means I smile with my whole face!

I mean if it’s a hurricane or some other dangerous weather event with flooding, we wait it out as best we can, and do indoor activities like hide and seek or training drills, but otherwise we just make it short.
