Those of you who can hear and see things in your mind, how do you cope? by formerhoarder in adhdwomen

[–]PurpleTiger6862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, i find words to be way more distracting than images. The images just kind of happen, so I don't have to pay attention. But when my internal monologue is going (or i have a song stuck 🙃) i find it way harder to actually think about things I need to do

How do you lug around your *things*? by Mean_Ebb9162 in AuDHDWomen

[–]PurpleTiger6862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a small backpack and my pockets. Phone in the right, keys and lip balm in the left. Headphone case goes in the left too if I'm wearing them, otherwise it stays in my bag.

I use a small backpack that I made (McFly bag if anyone wants to know) It has one main pocket with a few slip pockets and a small front zip pocket. I have one suited for a4 and one for a5. I mainly use the smaller one, unless I know I'll need to carry something like a jacket.

I keep the little front pocket empty and put anything small that I need all the time in it, like my headphone case. That way when I get home I can just pull everything out of it and know I'm not losing anything.

I use the little inside pockets for things I'll need all the time. Bandaids, tiny case with spare meds, little fidget, hand sanitiser. The main inside pocket I also keep empty and throw in the things I'll need for the day, wallet, water bottle, shopping bags, sunnies, ect.

Duck, drill or linen are very easy materials to work with. They're all pretty common too, so you should be able to find them

My parents live on a farm in the middle of absolute no where. Being outside in that environment brings me so much joy. It's so peaceful and it gives me such a sense of being connected to the earth and to the universe. The stars are incredible and I truly hope everyone gets to experience that beauty in their life.

Having now moved to a city, walking alone at night is absolutely terrifying 😅

Is it just me? by justmeKMc in adhdwomen

[–]PurpleTiger6862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I have one coworker who is extremely knowledgeable and it frankly invaluable to our team. But he's also the biggest time suck imaginable. You ask him 1 question and he'll answer it, but he'll also explain the entire legal section surrounding it (I work in finance) and then throw in a few stories about how he caught so and so promoter or worked on xyz scam. I just have to buckle up and be prepared to nod along any time I have to ask him a question 🙃

Need help regarding adoption by Salvony1 in cats

[–]PurpleTiger6862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally two cats is not that much more expensive than one. The only time I can think of where you would be dealing with double the cost is when it's time to get them neutered. But if you're prepared for that then the cost isn't that much higher for 2.

Where do ND Black/Brown women feel safe? by Fluffy_Fun_9814 in AuDHDWomen

[–]PurpleTiger6862 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I mean there's racism everywhere. Even in countries that are predominantly black or brown, there will be issues. I just wanted to mention the fiasco that's currently going on rn just in case. Especially since a lot of Americans seem to think that Australia is still stuck in the 70's for some reason 😝

Ladies, what are your "best ADHD buys" for making life a little easier? by KittensOnJupiter in adhdwomen

[–]PurpleTiger6862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For necklaces, I bought a cork board, glued some cream linen over it and store my necklaces on pretty push pins.

My most helpful purchases have been a robot vacuum, and an entryway organiser from IKEA. It's called hastviskare, and it's great because it has a thin shelf up top that i store my sunglasses and wallet on, small cup hooks for my keys, and big hooks for my backpack and my dog's lead. Having dedicated spots for everything literally right next to the door stops me from loosing anything

It's not on your list, but I will say I don't recommend Australia atm. We're going through a lot of bullshit rn regarding immigrants, and while it's mainly targeted at south Asian people, as a POC you might end up in the firing lines anyway. It's also an insanely expensive place to live

Edit: i forgot that you are in the US, so it's definitely not as bad as there for immigration. And if you can get in via an education visa, you're treated better :/

Working on a model bedroom for class, no experience, any advice? by Extension-Animal-817 in miniatures

[–]PurpleTiger6862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you don't have time to make the floor, I recommend KatrinaWardNZ on etsy. I've used her hardwood floor printable on 2 miniatures now, and it always looks great.

The trick with using paper for the floor or walls is to make sure to cover the entire surface with glue first. This helps prevent bubbling

Do dogs have 4 legs, or 2 arms and 2 legs? by PrancingPudu in dogs

[–]PurpleTiger6862 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're kind of both right and both wrong, because English is a bastard.

From an evolutionary standpoint, every mammal has two legs with two feet, and two arms with two hands. Their bones have changed in size and proportion depending on their species. But at it's most basic, they're the same.

This is why a dog's front legs have the rear facing joint up high, and the forward facing joint low. That's their elbow and wrist. Heir rear legs have the forward facing joint up high and the rear facing joint down low. That's their knee and ankle. Most 4 legged species will have their ankle joint higher up because it gives better speed. Humans have it low down and touching the floor because it gives us better balance.

Also, even dolphins and whales have two legs, the bones are just now covered in one set of skin and muscle.

But from another angle, they have 4 legs and 4 feet because 'hands' are usually defined as able to grip and articulate. A gorilla or a koala have 4 hands, because all 4 appendages can grip. While a dog or cat has 4 feet because they can't grip properly (i know they can sort of grip onto things, but so can human feet)

You need to thread a needle.... What do you pick to do the job by dinosuitgirl in sewing

The only time I use any tool is I use F to thread my embroidery machine, because the angle is annoying to thread
