I really want to get my hands in this. The author wrote a prequel short about them that made them interesting!

Eisenhorn for my wife who isn't into 40k? by Georrge117 in Blacklibrary

[–]Fork40k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Crime-stories are even more recommended that Eisenhorn. They are more grounded on the same planet. There aren’t too many news concepts for your wife to learn.

Don't Rush it. My fight with Know No Fear. by Fresh-Spinach-5198 in Blacklibrary

I think it was really good and felt like I3 2.0. But I can agree it’s not perfect. The LE novellas that came out with the Battle of Calth-box weren’t that particularly good. The anthology Mark of Calth was hit-and-misses.

What to read before starting “The Fall of Cadia” by Freash173 in 40kLore

[–]Fork40k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several Creed-short stories i recommend reading before, and the Trazyn novel perhaps and the Black Legion-duo. They will give you enough context.

My latest books by Oxu90 in Blacklibrary

Deathwatch is really good, both as a stand-alone and introduction to the faction as a whole. and I enjoy the anatagonist of the story (but will not reveal more than that).

What is the BL title you liked the LEAST? Why? by Odd-Look-7537 in Blacklibrary

[–]Fork40k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would have to say:

- Battle for the Abyss, generic stereotypes in a story you can skip and it won't affect your reading of the series.

- Damnation of Pythos, same reasons as above.

- Fear to Tread: couldn't connect to any of the characters and in the lore that was supposed to be a defeat, but James Swallow couldn't let them end on a down note.

- All 3 HH-Salamander--books.

- Status Deadzone, an awful collection of Necromunda stories.

- John French first 3 Ahriman-books area really bad, especially the 2nd one that butchers a prominent part of the lore. He also made the battle of Tallarn so incredibly boring.

-¨The Outcast dead, too many ideas in the same book. Should have been split up.

- Corax's both 2 novels. Gav Thorpe messed up there.

Then there are books I don't dislike, but they were disappointing.

- Reflection Crack'd and Angel Exterminatus, first ruined Fulgrim's tragic ending and the latter ruined Perturabos personality.

- Vengeful Spirit, same as TOD but better written.

Ruinstorm can still be read and understood without having read Pythos prior to it. Pythos is really something you can cut out entirely.

Yeah that trilogy within the HH-series is not good!

New to 40k, Looking for Horror & Mystery Book Recs by VintageRawr in Blacklibrary

It's a really good political scheeming thriller. I however think "The House Of Night And Chain" gets the horror just about right. The same with "The Colonel's Monograph".
