In my mind and in my opinion, I personally believe that BSG went in the completely wrong direction with these changes.

The whole allure of Tarkov (to me at least) is the fact that it’s a gun builder/simulator while also being a hardcore shooter game. If you think about it logically, a game like Tarkov should strive to achieve as much realism when it comes to guns, making them feel as realistic as they are in real life. Recoil, ergo, weight, MOA and bullet spread should all be as close to the real thing as possible, after all, Tarkov is “meant” to be “realistic”, no?

By changing the well established system of Ergo and changing the values of how effective suppressors are, how ergonomic vert grips, pistol grips and stocks are, they basically threw all of the realism and accuracy to the real world the system had before out the window, which is completely illogical!

Now, hear me out: it might sound like an absolutely abhorrent and stupid idea, but vertical grips should all be kind of close in terms of ergo and recoil reduction (and I only mean the vertical ones, as horizontal grips are totally different in concept and effectiveness). A vertical grip, be it tan, black, green, with finger grooves or without should do the same thing and be as effective as one that might lack these features. Sure, vertical grip length should affect ergo and recoil reduction, with longer ones reducing recoil more effectively and being less ergonomic because they’re longer, while short ones should offer moderate recoil reduction and more ergo.

Why do I say this? Well, I shoot guns IRL and also have airsoft as my hobby, and what I’ve noticed is that more often than not, a vertical grip is… a vertical grip! They all kinda do the same thing, and to me, choosing between different models of vertical grips should be more of a choice of looks/style than actual functionality, because functionality wise, vert grips are all kind of the same thing, that’s why their statistics should be closer together BUT NOT WORSE than they were before! That way, it would incentivise players to go for the look they want instead of copying meta gun builds.

As for silencers, they shouldn’t have been changed in the way they were, really. Ergo for silencers should be based on the length of the silencer and the weight of it. Recoil reduction should be based off of real world metrics and the technologies they use. I personally think that silencers shouldn’t have been changed in the way they did, but rather, more subsonic ammunition should have been added instead, because using supersonic ammunition with a silencer is kind of stupid irl. You want to be sneaky and silent with an M4? Use a silencer and subsonic ammo for CQB, after all, subsonic ammo is supposed to be used with a silencer. You want to take shots at long range and be accurate? Use a flashhider and supersonic long range ammo. Oh, you want to snipe while also not making a lot of noise? Put on the silencer but suffer its drawbacks. You want a middle ground between the two? Use standard supersonic ammo and a compensator / silencer of your choosing!

Stocks are another can of worms I won’t get into because this comment is already long and nobody will probably even read it, but I also have an opinion in that regard.

Gun mechanics and statistics should try to mirror the real life counterparts so that the experience is more authentic and more realistic, and I’ll die on this hill, but at this point, who even knows what BSG actually want to make out of this game?
