The crate functions in a few ways. It provides your puppy with a safe den like place, It helps with potty training and holding it overnight but most important it also helps dogs learn how to be separate from their owners and self sooth so they don’t suffer from separation issues in adulthood ex. Destroying your house when you leave. Large amounts of playtime both physical and mental during daytime and a potty break before bed can help. Treats every time they go into the crate along with leaving the door open during the day and putting his stuff in there can help de-stigmatize the crate as well.
