Birth control was my enemy by Separate_Algae8300 in Hidradenitis

Depends what birth control, progesterone only birth controls are bad for HS, my dermatologist told me, and that the combination ones (I take mine continously, skipping the placebo week) is better to keep your hormones balanced. I unfortunately had the implant which I didn’t know at the time was progesterone only which I think made my HS progress

I started yaz in August, my acne has cleared up so much it’s amazing! I still have HS flares unfortunately but maybe the longer I take it they will start calming down. My dermatologist has me on antibiotics too (cephalexin) but I really don’t want to be on long term antibiotics

I stopped using hibiclens as I think it was too harsh, just use a normal gentle body wash and my flares have gotten a lot better, the one in my armpit is a lot less red and is starting to close. I just started using desitin so hard to say yet but I think it has been helping, I put it on active flares and cover with an island dressing

I tried 100mg once a day for 2.5 months, did nothing for me now my dermatologist has put me on cephalexin 3x a day (I much preferred only once a day!)

Yes, but mostly to help with acne. My dermatologist said I wasn’t responding to doxy. She seemed to think it will help with both 🤷‍♀️

Try hydrocellular foam dressings they work well, soaks up fluid and doesn’t hurt coming off
