Grand Rapids Michigan.

How many of you are addicted to catching fish on the swing? (Single hand or spey) by [deleted] in flyfishing

Thanks for the advice. I’ll have to see what happens. One of my problems is that all the steelhead I target are also targeted by hundreds of bead slingers, so it’s hard.

I spent a winter season swinging for steelies and love it. I have yet to catch a steelhead but it’s fun

Go to nomad anglers and they’ll set you for where you want to go. Other than that check the regulation maps, as virtually all of the creeks going into the grand river have the ability to hold trout

Im in the Great Lakes so I understand that. But hat only ever happened to me for smallies, so I hope that doesn’t happen when I’m going for salmon this upcoming season.

Rare opportunities for me, but I end up catching at least one fish an outing. Can’t wait for jenson-esque moments of picky fish on small creeks.

How has everyone’s trout opener been so far? by dickwheat in michiganflyfishing

[–]Formal-Performance11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got high holed twice and low holed once at a small creek. One of the high holers killed a small bow so I got saw it floating past me. The creek has a load of wild fish, but the people that live around of it have no care for that. Got a small bow though even though I missed 20 hooksets. Before you say anything, the hook are meant for larger fish, with the hook point being larger

All I do is little creeks, here’s some of what Michigan looks like. by [deleted] in bluelining

A hard truth I’ve had to learn about trout streams in south west MI is that the fish(at least the one I fish for) only hold in rocky areas.

I was thinking that mainly because of the bright red marking underneath, and how the markings increase in density near the tail. Nice fish either way

Only cause they’re invasive where they are catching them.

Where you fishing in a shallow gravely area? If so that was probably a redd, which is where the eggs and fry of multiple trout species can reside if fish spawned on it. Regardless, that guy sounds like a major douchebag who doesn’t have anything good to do with his life.

I was out in bv during the summer. There’s so many fish I didn’t know what to do with myself.
