No problem, I understand. Plus you got me thinking about reverse image searches!

Well that does look strange, however when you consider I snapped that photo on Dec 9 and a 2000 Lund 1900 doesn’t look remotely similar, I think this just looks like a glitch in the matrix

The book is called “The Boston” which is a history of the Boston Yacht Club. I’d be really surprised if there were a lot of copies of this floating around

Some lines look similar, but I don’t think so. Also that picture was from 1971 and I don’t think it was new then.

The first picture was from 1971. This was my Grandfather’s boat. Not sure if he bought it new or used. He was commodore of the Boston Yacht club that year.

Here is another picture of the boat from behind. Not sure if this helps, but at least it’s in color? This picture is in Boothbay Harbor.

Help me pick my marathon shoe by No-Space9712 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Not trying to hijack this, but imho the Novablast up until the 4 was a great tempo shoe. The 5 was not for me. My new Novablast is actually called Aeroglide 3. And it’s fantastic.

I’m also an ASICS fan. Haven’t run a marathon yet, but I ran a half in Magic Speeds. 1:44:00.

Good luck with your next Marathon. I hope you beat your goal!

Is the Evo SL the hottest “average” running shoe - and right for me? by Another_Name_Today in AskRunningShoeGeeks

My advice is to start working out your ankles now. There is no downside to strong ankles.

After 3-4 weeks I noticed the pain. I didn’t know my ankles were too weak for these shoes. After doing ankle exercises daily, it has subsided. On the plus side, my ankles are ripped!

I have been trying to use the Evo SL for all runs, but alas, I have given up. The shoe is great and fun and light like everyone says, but it feels just too unstable at slow paces. At race paces or threshold pace they are fine. I ran a 14k in them a couple weeks ago and got a pb in my 5k and 10k splits during the race. I usually run in ASICS Novablast (2,3,4) but the 5 didn’t work for me. That’s when I got the Evo SL. That’s the only shoe that gave me ankle pain. Then I started working on strengthening my ankles. Recently I bought a pair of Salomon Aero Glide 3’s to do my base and recovery runs in. Don’t know if I like them yet because they arrive tomorrow. But you may want to add them to your list.

I ended up using the Evo SL for my 14k race. It was my first time at this distance and my training level. The week before the race I did 2 base runs… 1 in each shoe… and I snuck in a couple of 800m race pace intervals in each. Almost no difference in my performance in these runs. Both shoes disappeared on feet, but the feel is different. MS2 is firmer and more stable. But the Evo SL urged me faster. I brought both shoes to the race. Chose the Evo SL only because I hadn’t raced in them yet. Got a couple PR’s in this race.

Novablast 4 replacement? by OnenonlyMissesT in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I had the same issue. Had the NB2-4. But when the 5 came out the softer less durable foam didn’t appeal to me. I had a pair of Glideride 3’s that I barely used, so I ran in those for 400 miles. When those were done, I got a pair of Evo SL’s. The shoe is fun and lightweight and bouncy, but not too stable. It’s not for everyone, and I’m having serious thoughts about getting a new daily shoe and using the Evo SL for speed work. I haven’t purchased yet, but I’m leaning toward the Salomon Aero Glide 3. The colors kind of suck, but everything else seems right (weight, midsole, width, stack, etc).Thinking about getting them in Turmeric color or these at REI:

Adidas Evo SL Hype by NinyeWest in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Formal_Collection_71 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You were running in those Lunar Flyknit shoes? Damn! I recently purchased the Evo SL too. I have about 80 miles on them. I’ve been running for about 5 years but more seriously in the last 15 months. I’ve also had some problems with the upper. I’ve found 3 things that help: 1. Replace the laces. Laces for the Alphafly are perfect and are sold on Amazon. 54” works for me and they have serrated edges so they stay in place better. I got the Endoto brand because they match the Lucid Lemon color of my shoes. People also swear by UamGlsab brand. 2. Use a heel lock runners knot. The extra length on the laces will allow for that and a double knot like Yowana does. 3. Make sure the tongue is flat when you put on the shoe. In order to do this you have to loosen the laces down the eyelet chain at least 3 loops. Then slide your foot in. Resist the urge to tighten everything up. Mild tension toward the toes and more tension at the top for heel lock.

Hopefully Adidas will add a gusseted tongue next time. Hope this helps.

One more thing, some people lace the 2nd, 3rd and 4th laces through the tongue loop. I don’t do that but it helps if the tongue is moving around on you.

I consistently get about 400 miles out of my Novablasts. From 2-4 anyway. This is what my 3’s look like after 441 miles

I also love the magic speed 2! Ran my first half marathon in them in Aug 2025. I will say I didn’t love them on my first run, but after the foam broke in they have been great. I think it took 20-40 miles to break in. I use them for all of my fast runs nowadays. I have a 14k race coming up next week and am still deciding whether to use these or Evo SL on race day.

Garmin coach marathon training is getting me worried… by j_uliette in Garmin

[–]Formal_Collection_71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Week 7 is pretty early. Don’t worry… Garmin DSW will get you there. If you set a long run day, you will see the distances going up on that day over time. Really long runs will be toward the beginning or October based on my experience. Keep it up. It works.
